I think he is probably unlucky that we got promoted. Another year in the Champ (as evident by this potential move) is what he needs. The step up to prem just came too early. He might get to that level, hope for him that he does.

Looks like Whittaker off to Boro from Plymouth - there to join forces with Azaz again. They must be about to lose a forward... McKenna saying today we will only buy where it will improve first team squad / starting 11, so counts out another AAH equivalent 2+2 = Latte Lath is on his way to PR

He's nowhere near as bad as some of our fans make out. He chipped in well last season despite carrying an injury that needed surgery. This season it's clear we've been promoted above a level he's remotely ready for and that's not been helped by the fact he's not been fully fit for much of the season either. He'll do well once he finds his feet in the Championship, he finds space well and makes good runs in behind. He's got some rough edges but there's a decent striker in there, he needs to be playing far more often than we can afford to play him though.

That’s not true though is it. He went there to talk to them and they didn’t want to pay what we wanted. I think he’s getting a lot of unfair stick and suffering from recency bias. When we signed him last year he was one of the hottest prospects outside the premier league and looked lively and scored a few goals in the championship whilst carrying an injury. We’ve now stepped up a level and looks way off it but has only really had limited minutes of the bench after surgery in the summer, in a league where quite a few of our players have struggled. (Clarke x 2, Johnson, Burns). I think he will do well in the championship and develop into a decent player.

Yep, massive overreaction by a lot of our numpty supporters that he wasn't banging goals in at the Emirates or Etihad with his 7 minutes off the bench. The fact the last 4 clubs publicly interested in him have been Championship based Ipswich, Derby, West Brom and Stoke tells you that's probably his level in the near term. Finding himself in the best league in the world and being our 2nd choice forward for most of the season due to injury is no fault of his own. Good luck to him.

I think it's a fairly established practice now that if a deal fails due to medical concerns - the clubs/player don't advertise that out of fairness to the player and their search for another club. Agree with you we don't know for sure - but you talk like you know it's not true - which you can't know for sure either. On balance - there's been a few noises around this from those a bit closer to the club so I lean towards believing PK. Agree on the recency bias - and ultimately that we've just gone up a level too far for him too quickly.

Hello Herbie. When did you come back? I agree. He is only young too and given fitness and a run of games I think will be a decent championship striker and who knows, in time may step up to Prem level. Theres not many strikers who can do that at 21/22. And I like his attitude as well. Sh1t penalty taker though.

A lot of clubs were interested in him last season when we bought him. There is obviously a lot of potential there. His fitness issues haven't helped but being thrown into Premier League games has been his biggest downfall. Had we secured another striker in the window he's have been loaned out to a Championship club as part of his development. I can't help feel that we have failed him in that respect.

You can absolutely see why we did buy him though. Workrate, style, attitude, approach - all of things KM values. Add to that that he can play - raw, almost certainly, but a player with all the right attributes to be successful under KM. Simple fact is that we got promoted to the Prem and he's not ready and we can't afford to develop him and give him game time. I do, honestly, think he'll end up have a very decent career in the Championship and even, possibly, lower Prem (if he develops and has a bit of luck).

nothing confirmed yet as far as I see - in the reiss nelson / Armando Borja stage of proceedings I would say of more merit, Phil says we have not chased this one down, so my maths is probably out of whack

I think it was the desperate line that annoyed me more than anything. There's a good player in there who for me, showed good qualities in the Championship. As a club we failed in the transfer window in the summer, which has meant he has had to do a job for us (A bit like Freddie last season). Wouldn't surprise me to see him play at the top end of Champ or even back in the PL at some stage, I hope we have a good sell on as strikers seem to be a commodity in short supply.

AAH off to Stoke on 12:03 - Jan 24 with 1706 views | Stewart27 | Indeed. Unfortunate for him we went up. He scored a few in the championship. Was a work in progress but no means out of his depth. Just goes to show the gap between the PL and championship is bigger than it’s ever been. He’d do a good job at a Stoke/West Brom/Norwich.

Lath will be yards off what we need at this level too though. We'd be better to look abroad.
