I don’t think there is anything wrong with sitting back and acknowledging where we have made mistakes though, as always, you live and die by recruitment.
It’s so so tough to get to the PL, and it is frustrating to have made such a mess of the recruitment, but it shouldn’t take away any unconditional support this season for the club, players and manager. |  | | |

Yeah I think the balance between new players needed at this level, keeping the team identity and integrating players without disrupting relationships was always going to be so so hard.
And that's even before you consider that we had to do 2 or 3 years of recruitment in one window because of the fast rise.

I did sit through it but although some money spent initially we have spent around £120m to go backwards. We took 6 points against Southampton last year and 1 this. Sorry but losing to a team who have won 1 game in 36 previous premier league matches is exactly like losing to Lincoln. |  | | |

It’s been our worst performance this season and we turned up looking like we were going to lose, supporters have a right to be unhappy with it. Ipswich doesn’t get a lot of cracks at the top flight, in fact just 6 seasons since the mid 80s. We know how hard it will be to get back here. Looking at players who are playing to pattern, no urgency or inventiveness without the drive or passion of previous seasons is very demoralising for the support.
As we knew we were as good as up during this fixture last season, we knew we were down today.
Sure it’s the top flight, and yes the promotions were great but if we get relegated and end up back in the mire that shine will wear off pretty quickly. |  |

It’s a lovely sentiment but it’s really not a good faith argument, or particularly relevant. We are in the Prem spending big money to bridge the gap and coming up short against one of the worst teams to ever be at this level.
Let alone the fact that McKenna got done by a bloke who looks like he’s happiest rifling through boxes of vinyl and smoking roll ups, rather than be a top flight football manager. |  |

We are currently 4 points off Wolves due to an inferior goal difference.
Wolves have created more chance in the first half against Villa than we did against Saints all game and that is why we are going down.

I think the concern is that if we cant beat one of the worst sides in Premier League history, on our own patch, then where are we going to pick up the wins we need to stay in the Premier League?!
We are also the victim of our own recent success in that we won so many games over the last 2 seasons, so to get so many defeats is a bit of a culture shock, especially to those with blue tinted glasses on.

I agree with your culture shock point. But I think KM did his best to try and educate fans about how much of a step up this was for a club that was coming from back to back promotions and still putting in place infrastructure that had been neglected over the past 20 years.
I just think people throwing their toys out of the pram have no perspective or understanding of what the club has been through and what is going through. Suspect some only turned back up when we started winning again! | | | |
