It says more about you than him, if you wrote him off before he arrived.

Let's not forget he chose not to join us in the summer for nearly half the price.

Villa have openly said he's not up to much and we've taken the bait for £21m for a lightweight winger with one decent season in the championship, in January.

All the while we have one fit but universally unrated keeper, a nascent cb pairing and Sam Morsy looking increasingly lost and starting in the prem.

Like it or not, it was an utterly needless bit of business.

Maybe he comes good, but it's tremendously unlikely to change our fortunes when we create about 2 chances a game and usually shoot ourselves in the foot once per game from village defending.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

I don't get McK's obsession with Philogene when it seems from today he isn't any different from what our existing 10s offers.

Granted, he may improve but by that time we'd be playing in the Championship or him already sold. If he was so good Villa would have started him or at least featured him more frequently.

Buying more 10s while failing to sign a decent experienced MF and striker beggars belief. Look at Moder at Brighton, off to Feyenoord for only £1.2 million. Probably better than anything we have atm. Why didn't we go for him? Instead we seem to love throwing money at future potential who most likely will leave us for other clubs when we go down. What's the point?

Whether he was or wasn’t the right signing for us in this window based on our current needs is not his concern or fault. Also - he’s been here about 5 minutes, and doesn’t have the benefit of having played regular first-team football this season. Let’s continue to play our part by getting behind all the players and, in Philogene’s case, judge him in 16 months time (whatever division we’re in).

And you think it’s ok to form an opinion on his ability on the field for us, without even seeing him play for us. Which is what you said you’d done. Where’s the objectivity?

And we wouldn’t have got him for half the price in the summer. It was £2-3M. Why prevaricate?

The agent dynamic was a concern. Villa openly said he's not good enough. 4/5 unexplained days to close the deal.

So many warning signs. To sign a player seemingly similar to our other options whilst we have no decent keeper, limited CBs and Morsy starting whilst looking increasing lost.

It was just needless, terrible business imo.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

I said similar in another thread. Too many similar players at the same stage of development. 1 or 2 is fine. I think our recruitment strategy has been wrong since we’ve been promoted and is the biggest area of growth for the management team, as it feels (without fully checking) that we’ve had more duds than aces since he’s been here.

One or two exceptions aside (Massimo, Hirst, Davis), our star players over the last few years were already here - Walton, Vas, Morsy, Chappers, Burns, Burgess, Woolfie, Janoi.

How do you think those players that you have given implied criticism to would feel if they were foolish enough to have read your post?

Far too similar to Hutchinson on early viewing which is great if Omari gets injured but not so great if you want to try something different. Feels like we’ve signed a few too many players for tomorrow rather than older, experienced Premier League heads for now.

Fair play to his agent. Saw us coming a mile away

How many minutes has he had before you've written him off?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

The worst possible time to sign him. We needed someone who could give us some presence in the spine of the team. Dare I say it, a hard b****d.

The obsession with number 10's is doing my head in frankly, it's not what's needed at the moment. Feels like we are making signings you'd either do in a prem second season to bolster your squad options or if you are resigned to going down already.

Too much bouncing off opponents and running into blind alleys going on.

I definitely think that the money spent on him and Clarke would have been better spent on one better player.

I am not annoyed at the signing..

But Jack Clarke was finally finding his footing and building confidence. Having someone come in and skip the queue must be demoralising.

I think the issue is Kieran still doesn't know his best side. Which is strange considering the consistency we have had over the last 30 months.

Given he is new to the team, I thought Philogene showed promise yesterday, as did Encisio.
