Why do people want to hate him?

Because they are miserable idiots who much prefer it when Evans was here.

He's already spoken about the possibility of going down, the fact that we're way ahead of schedule and if we were to be relegated, it has no impact on the long-term plan. None of this suggests that it's gone wrong, or there's a need to 'spin' the next chapter. It's already well publicised, and if people don't get this, they've not been listening.

It seems that so many people really don't understand what the club and Gamechanger are working on. The club's expectation was not to be in the EPL this year, and they are realistic about the challenges with getting promoted so soon. Their expectations are grounded - it's some of the fans that are getting ahead of themselves, and had expectations that were too high this season.

We're NOT relegated yet. If we do get relegated, we're still on track and focus on coming backup. If we stay up, we're still ahead of schedule, and need to take advantage of that.

We will be relegated, but that's not the point I was making. I don't know what do people expect him to come out and say at this stage? It's irrelevant, as you say we weren't prepared to make that step up, and mistakes were made in the recruitment, we couldn't bring in players good enough for the league, moved on too many, too fast, and we can't compete now and don't have the pull/resources in this window to do anything to rectify that.

His job will be selling next season to the supporters and maybe bringing in a new manager depending on what happens with McKenna.

He should probably dig his gloves out & get in goal next game.

Since Gamechanger came in the club has worked well ahead of where the fans are thinking, looking at the summer transfer window while we are all focussed on January. That's been mentioned in dozens of interviews. They will also be fine tuning the new shirt sponsor contract when the Sheeran deal stops, looking at shirt designs as well and the overall stadium redevelopment and the land around it.

But sure, let's drag him out of those meetings and get him to do a cheesy interview for Town TV.

If you look back, he rarely gives interviews during the final weeks of transfer windows, but often does one afterwards when the dust has settled.

Do you not think he may be quite busy at the moment. Why are you insistent on trying to generate hate for someone who has helped get the club back to the PL

Pretty irrelevant. He'll be judged by the standards of the division we're in.

So just as he was rightly unanimously praised and adored last season, he has so far failed in the recruitment this season. For most of us, that's fine because contextually it was always going to be very very difficult to get it right.

He’s been notably quiet this season and was for most of the time in the championship - which is the right thing to do. Nothing to see here.

Don't know how long the interview was but they were showing the pre-match show from TownTV on the concourse before Southampton and it looked like he was being interviewed then. Anyone hear what he said?

Recruitment is very tough. A few hits, a few indifferent and few bad ones.

Was always going to be that way. A lot of these players will e able to contribute for us going forward as well if we go down.

That is a perfectly fair point.

Accountability means taking the flak when things go badly as well as the plaudits when they go well, and he's certainly visible when we do well. But criticising him right now, when we've signed several players (for good or for bad) in the last few weeks is a little unfair. He's been entitled to be a little busy for smiling at the cameras.

Having said all that, nobody forced him to become Chairman as well as CEO, and in my view that was a massive mistake. Even if it was not a massive mistake, it unquestionably increases the level of accountability that he has taken upon himself.

I rather suspect, like with most people, Ashton is not as godly as he was painted as being when we were succeeding, and he will not be quite as bad as many will paint him if things carry on on the same trajectory as we are currently on.

He was pretty front and centre after the 1-1 draw with Leicester and we were hardly pulling up trees at the time. He can't be expected to be in front of the media regularly, no club runs like that.

One of this new breed of poster who have appeared in the last month or so, all vying to stand out among the masses through a torrent of negative whinges and rubbish like this OP.

You are right. No balance, no objectivity, no real thought and no support. Just relish at our situation the boot going in to various people at the club. Goalkeeper? Let’s hurl abuse at him during the game and try and break him and get him out. Power to those who know best. 22 year old forward? Carthorse, get him out. A player signed last week? He’s next one game, too lightweight, money wasted. Etc etc.

Mark Ashton was quiet much of last season too. So what? He gets criticised for saying too much or too little. Partly because of how he comes across and partly from the lobotomised clowns from Bristol City who dished up a boatload of abuse when he started here.

People have a habit of believing what they read, especially when a view is not challenged. It is one of the pitfalls of social media and reasons why it’s so beloved. You don’t need truth. Just a loud mouth and a story to tell. ‘No smoke without fire’ etc. No thought by people who comment but have never met the bloke and have zero idea what he does either.

The forum is becoming too miserable and unpleasant for my taste. There are a lot of excellent posters on here and people I really respect. Then there are the others. But everyone is entitled to express what they like - just as one is free to give it a miss for a while.

Getting one player spot on out of circa £120 million spend shouldn't really be impressive.
