As soon as we went down to 10 there was a flurry of threads suggesting the game was over. Hopefully all those guilty will show a bit more faith time.

It's difficult not to feel pessimistic in that situation. What annoys me more is the harsh treatment and unfair criticism of certain individual players.

If it wasn't for palmer we would have lost 3 or 4

Give over. It was a superb team effort.

Palmer made some great saves, but this also ignores the great contribution in defense by the rest of the team. Some superb blocks, well timed tackles, marshalling away from goal, etc

It was an immense effort from the entire team

Uh oh, those pesky fans are reacting in real time to events in a football game. Whatever next?

Reacting in real-time is fine. Writing the team and match off after 30 minutes at nil-nil, because we’re down to 10 men is the epitome of negativity and poor support.

Quite right. If it wasn’t for Delap and Omari we wouldn’t have scored either.

It really makes you wonder why we went out of our way to sign these sorts of players doesn’t it?

There’s certainly an element of that. It can get a bit emotional in real time, and obviously that’s one of the great things about this sport. If it didn’t trigger emotions it would be really boring, like snooker or dressage.

Agreed.
Some players are given specific tasks like chasing lost causes and getting in peoples way to stop them playing. Some fans will wrongly say that the player is having a mare.
Omari was one of those given that thankless task today.

To be fair, after watching Enciso go off injured and then Tuanzebe seeing a 2nd yellow when the first wasn't a yellow at all, I did think myself, "We just can't get a break can we?"

Don’t bother mate.

It’s ok to spout rubbish ‘in the heat of the moment’, but not ok for others to highlight how pathetically pointless it is.

It achieves absolutely nothing but division and hostility, but that’s probably the idea. So like when somebody else’s brat is having the tanty in the supermarket, just leave them to get on with it.

With injuries and a ridiculous sending off today and other ref decisions, it’s felt that way for most of the season. But what a great effort today and well done each and every one of them.

But it’s the same fans giving up on here that were we to be in a similar at a home match would also give up. At a time when every point really counts wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could get behind the team but I guess that’s wishful thinking.

Next time we have a bloke sent off in the first half, I'll be sure to post that we're guaranteed a point.

Thanks for the steer!

Not unreasonable though, was it? At what level of football is it ever a positive to go down to 10 men? Can’t say I started a thread about it, but my natural reaction at the moment of the red card was “sh1te, we’re fvcked now” wasn’t a question of faith, more that 9 times out of 10, a team with fewer players on the pitch does less well.

I didn't think we'd get anything today and I expected worse when we went down to 10 . It doesn't make me a bad person but I didn't post about it.

There is a chat feature on twtd for immediate reaction, message boards are for more considered thought but you’d never know reading the many single view threads each week. The admin required to mute those is quite a task to get to threads worth reading especially around game day

I wanted to post straight away saying that many teams play better with 10, but was determined not to hex us by logging in during a league game!

I thought we were done for, but it was less to do with any lack of faith in us, but more to do with the quality that Villa had in attack and just the general sense that everything is going against us this season, which David and Morsy being out and Enciso going off injured didn't help. Even when we went 1-0 up, it felt inevitable that Villa would eventually blow us away due to the tiredness that I assumed would come from defending with 10 players, the home atmosphere, etc.

All of which does indeed make getting a point from yesterday all the more impressive, but I don't think anyone who felt we done for after Tuanzebe was sent off needs to be criticised for that.
