Cunha incident has now got me hoping great escape is back on on 07:27 - Mar 2 by Axeldalai_lama | I don't understand how you can claim to live in the 'real world', and yet think that there is some straightforward obvious better way of doing what we are doing, and we are simply getting it wrong. To me that's the real la la land stuff. There is a reason the 3 clubs at the bottom are those that came up, and were last year. The other teams are light years ahead development wise, having spent hundreds of millions more than us and being able to attract a significantly higher calibre of player. Whatever strategy we employ has a massively high chance of failure, so to point and talk about critical factors to put right like it's a tick box exercise is simplistic beyond belief and to me just as fanciful as a light hearted willingness to believe we can do it against the odds. Not to mention, what's the fecking point of being a fan if you can't suspend disbelief a bit? You seem to suspend disbelief about the league being almost a closed shop with barely any way in other than luck and perfection, so why are the others living in la la land any more than you? On one hand you say we should have belief but your whole post is that the three promoted teams have no chance because their light years behind... I'm confused, do we give up now & avoid ever getting promoted because it's futile or continue to hope against hope we can pull something out the bag?

That will reflect the automatic 3 match ban. Anything extra will only come after any FA review, which would take place over the coming week or so. Until then he's only subject to the 3 match ban for a VC red card.

I would add to that any reduction due to him appealing, being sorry but it was the other bloke's fault, and his exemplary disciplinary record aside from the odd few incidents.

It is either a minimum of 3 matches or 0 due to a sucessful appeal.

I’d have thought, given the clear evidence of all the footage, that any appeal by him or Wolves would be likely to increase the ban, not decrease it; am guessing they won’t even try.

Did the clear evidence and footage fit with the reduction in ban for the first offence? Clearly saying "sorry but it was his own fault and I have an exemplary character" was sufficient then.

Agree to disagree on that. Cunha's narrative is clearly very different from the footage.

Fair point, a bit garbled. Basically, we all know the reality of the situation, but some choose to be positive and believe and not pick holes, some are realistic and resigned to it happening and tick along a bit happy a bit sad, but the worst group, in my opinion, understands the reality broadly but think they know how to fix it and can pick apart all of the failings with a mythical few solutions, which are just as deluded as the believers but without the charm!
Cunha incident has now got me hoping great escape is back on on 15:15 - Mar 2 with 1232 views | Smoresy | Cunha exciting but fixtures and points ugly! Will they lose him for more than 3 games? Feels inevitable we'll lose Delap for 2. Wolves have played nearly all the good teams twice now, grrr. Their last 11 fixtures include every team in the bottom half, plus Man City and Brighton. Pereira has 13 points from his first 11 games, having played 8 teams in the top half. His current record against bottom half teams is played 3, won 2, drawn 1. So we need a heck of a lot of help from the lesser teams to stop Wolves exceeding 30 points. I think they'll win a minimum of 3 games personally, which would result in us needing at least 5 wins probably from our 11 games. Unlike Wolves, we have 5 of the current top 7 still to play!

I think there are some obvious areas where improvement can be made, not all this season but moving forward. Off the pitch, our ability to bring in a requisite number of strikers, which we have struggled with season on season, and an extension of our scouting network so we can look abroad as well as home - Cajuste has been one of our best signings from last summer. On the pitch it is definitely more difficult though I would say more tactical flexibility, especially with an insistence of playing two in central midfield when we're getting overwhelmed week in week out. It feels like Plan B is now to do Plan A better. Then there's a question of defensive efficiency as well, with a lack of use in recent games of a three with Woolfenden in the middile, no Burgess and Townsend being immediately dropped for Davis despite a good game at Villa Park.

Fair points. I think it's the extent to which they matter in the grand scheme, Vs the amount specific posters are overreacting and bringing up points like money spent and who we could have brought like they're playing football manager in 2002. Improving the basics around the team set up would have been better but wouldn't keep us up any more than just having another player or two truly clicking like Delap has. And the scouting issues etc will get looked at I'm sure, but no one expects a club in league one less than two seasons ago to have an international scouting network up and running, so as you say a future bonus, but not a mistake or failing in my eyes. Was the disciplinary action not a retrospective red card? What was he charged with? Straight red will be just a 2 match and he will be back for 1 April then?

This is from the FA disciplinary regulations. I'd say it's 4 games, unless they can spin some amazing story to mitigate.

Depends on whether the retrospective one is considered a red card or some other offence. I can't see why it wouldn't be considered a retrospective red card. Minimum 3 matches for violent conduct you would think.

Sky are reporting it as a 3 match ban but could face further sanctions for failing to leave the pitch.

Genuine question, what makes you think you know better than McKenna? You've generally been pretty sceptical/critical for a good chunk of the last few years while McKenna has consistently shown himself to be one of the best young managers in Europe. What is it about your own knowledge and ability that makes you think you might have more of an idea than him about what the team needs?

McKenna has shown himself to be a good up and coming manager in League 1 and the Championship. A bit like Ten Haag did in the Dutch league. The Premier League is tough, you are testing yourself against some of the worlds best, neither of them have enhanced their reputations.

But... if Cunha's suspension is increased to 4 games he'd miss the game against us right? Doesn't mean that we definitely win it but that game is absolutely vital for us to have any chance.
