Strangely really buoyed by last night 11:56 - Mar 4 with 3307 viewsjasondozzell

Great performance really under pressure, with lots of challenges as KM said and against a top PL side this season.

Real fight and togetherness.

We're not going down without a hell of a fight and like Townsend says this isn't anywhere near done yet.

Injuries a real blow but we're good when out backs are against the wall.

Players just need something now as a reward for all the hard work to kick us on and get us going. If we can play like that at Palace we've half a chance.

I thought we looked more composed as a back line with the team that started last night than I can remember in recent games. So much more comfortable playing out from the back as well (albeit Morsy helped with that)

I'd imagine Woolfie and Townsend have given KM plenty of food for thought.

It's definitely fair to say that we executed that match pretty much as we'd have wished, in the circumstances. Imagine we'll look to set up similarly against Palace, whose threats are comparable in nature. If we put in the same kind of display, we've a chance of getting something. The injuries are a real problem though and let's hope we can get at least a couple back.

With the exception of the Liverpool game (and, ok, Old Trafford given the context), we've been decent away from home ever since West Ham.

not sure that we have enough players to play a back 4 with all the injuries, so wolf will be in by default anyway.

however, i think wing back is more suited to davis than townsend, so this may count against him

We looked more resilient last night, and less exposed and vulnerable than we have in recent weeks. Mostly restricted Forest to long range efforts. Will last night translate to league? Still concerned we chop and change too much and ever more so the injuries are killing us. Axel out is a blow and SS and chappers having setbacks is a nightmare scenario.

If we do somehow stay up it’ll be KM’s greatest achievement.

Having two defensive minded fullbacks helped.

This is key. It sounds tough to say bench davis. But he's had plenty of prem games and his role specifically brings us problems on his side. Same with our right. If its not axel or oshea it looks troublesome.

I don't know if I would go as far as a great performance.

But what I would say is it was certainly a valiant & resilient display. The cards are stacked against us in terms of injuries, and I think that was reflective in the lack of attacking purpose on display.

However, a defensive performance like that, it does give you a chance in matches.

Hopefully Palace will rest 6 of their first team.

I know a lot has been said but Cunha missing for Wolves really is massive, having watched them a few times this season everything attacking wise goes through him and he will be a big big loss.

Small win.

BUT

Of course we have to do our job and starting picking up points, and more importantly, wins.

hope so but has he actually been banned yet? You know what happened last time, it took 3 weeks to ban him for one league game by which time they'd accumulated 7 points

So was I funnily enough , but it was dampened by our latest injury news , boy do we need a stroke of luck some time soon , makes the task in hand so much more difficult, however we soldier on .

I'm not sure we can really tell much from a cup match between to much changed sides.

We've had a few false dawns.

That's kind of the point.

Can we take much from two reserve teams playing a cup match?

an away draw with a top 3 team, who were much closer to full strength than us is something to be buoyed by.

obviously doesn't guarantee any points in the next game, but it should give a hit of confidence to the players (not so much for broady, luongo and taylor perhaps!)

Maybe, maybe not.

I don't really think it represented where either team sits in the league.

Hopefully it will bring confidence for any involved at the weekend though.

Considered it…

Based on the season the likelihood is that we won’t win. Palace are a proper unit, think it could be a 3/4-0

First half was really poor from both teams. Looked like a mid championship match. Second half was a valiant defensive effort but was relentless pressure from forest. Definitely looked like a prem versus championship side second half. We created very little and chased shadows in midfield a lot of the time.

Their players just seems to have so much more pace and strength than ours.

in a funny sort of way, they might want to get his ban sorted sooner rather than later - if they drag it out then he is more likely to miss our game, and I would think they would want him for that one at least

This time the referee gave him a red card so it is an automatic 3 match ban starting from Wolves' next game, no matter what. He may get more if he is charged with misconduct. Against us the referee didn't see the incident and the misconduct charge came post-match.

They still have more goalscorers than we do, plus being reliant on a rival losing is never good especially when we can't win a game. Last team in league to win a game in 2024 and 2025 that is some going when you have Southampton in the same league.
