I've found an even more radical way to avoid expensive coffee. Rocket science it aint. Buy a £6.25 jar of coffee from Asda, and enjoy at least 30 cups of coffee from it - just over 20p a cup. Alright, there's the extremely difficult, exhausting and time-consuming task of making it ones-self !

I do!! The chocolate one with raisins was a favourite.
I think the club was biscuit of choice because it fitted nicely in the plastic Tupperware lunch box.
I nearly always agree with your views but on this serious matter of best club biscuit flavours, I think you need to reconsider. Both orange and mint were way superior to raisin.

As a kid I always felt disappointed if I found a raisin flavoured club in my packed lunch box. Orange was good but think the mint chocolate one was my favourite.
Honourable mention for the mint yo-yo biscuit that came in a bright green wrapper.

Red yo-yos were far superior - also there was a bar called a Trio bar better than all of these.
They’re not alone. I saw a figure the other day for roughly how much additional tax the govt would be getting if these (mostly, but not exclusively) American firms paid the intended amount of tax. It’s eye-wateringly large. Tens of billions. So much money leaves the UK to our glut of foreign owners.
Anyway, back on topic, we’ve a Coffee #1 in Swansea that I like. I’m not sure if that’s a chain. But otherwise we mostly make our own and have thermos mugs.

Moving away form Coffee one of my pet peeves at the moment is the price of concerts. When did £100+ become a thing?
It annoys me that normal arena at best level bands are being pulled together with similar level artists to create an outdoor show and then a £40-50 price tag becomes £100+
Or Odeon level bands being grouped together with a similar artist and then playing an arena to push the ticket price up.
Then its the whole £8.00 per pint nonsense when in the venue.
Just a total rip off all round.
I was really interested in that black sabbath gig at villa park, but it was 250 for a crap ticket a mile from the stage, and 400 quid plus for anything half decent.
No way I'm paying that!
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

To be fair though instant coffee is pretty rank
Agree with this.
I've become a bit of a coffee snob as I've got older. Have a sage machine at home, with beans from coffee link (ipswich company), and it's so much better than anything the chains do.

"Not many of us left who remember that ad jingle, I suspect"
Pretty sure that advert was used throughout my childhood (80s/early 90s) so there are plenty of us left 😂
Must hold or be close to a record for durability then, cos I remember it from the 1960s! Had a Saturday job, & kind employer had a huge biscuit tin stuffed with them which she was always offering.

Throw it all in the bin and make yourself a nice cup of tea. You know it makes sense.

Loads of people remembering advert lyrics incorrectly is really annoying too...
I bl00dy knew those lyrics quoted above in the thread were wrong but I was worried I'd been victim of the Mandela Effect. Thanks for confirming I had remembered correctly!

Fair. I stopped drinking in the middle of last year and coffee has really helped plugged the gap a bit. Other tips:
- Coffee bags like Taylors are actually pretty good and worm out about 30p per coffee - same with posh little filters you can get from waitrose etc. You pour water into the top and they slowly drip strong coffee down - as I said earlier. If you are with octopus. Their octoplus rewards grant you a free coffee any size, any type once per week if you are quick on Mondays - carry a thermos everywhere as you can either bring one of the top two with you and then usually get a discount if you get one out

Me too. I lived in Australia about 20 years ago and got into the coffee culture there. When I returned home I was hooked. I've invested in a Gaggia and even though it's not a bean to cup, it's fantastic. Nearly 15 years of service and it's hardly gone wrong (only recently it started leaking, but that's all and just needs a good service/repair).
My mum used to drink Mellow Birds coffee. Bonkers when you compare the two, akin to comparing a pint of old school homebrew that your mates dad used to make when you were a kid and a proper craft beer
