Trying to focus on the data itself rather than the narrative - but as a pretty left-wing person in general I do find the data itself to be rather concerning.
Any data buffs around who can offer some reassurance that this is misguided somehow? Otherwise - feels like there's a need for a more open and honest conversation.
EDIT: would have been helpful to share the study (disclaimer: the narrative is biased and anti-immigration - but the data mentioned is what I'm more interested in)
Where is your data then so we can look at it? Or credible sources that have already provided commentary or would that not set the conversation off on a track you want it to?
I would apologise for being so sceptical but with your posting history it would be an insincere apology

Apologies - the link would have been helpful.

That.
Home - Centre for Migration Control The Centre for Migration Control is a think tank committed to controlling and dramatically reducing migration to Britain.
Hmm - let's not pretend the data is worth looking at or the conversation is worth having.
No doubt connected to BNP/UKIP/REFORM or whatever Farage and the other numpties are calling themselves now

I think we’ve had a gutful of Trump style misinformation. If there some reliable statistics from a variety of sources; proper evidence with context, I’m not interested.

Surely the data is worth looking at even if it's only to say it's not true?
The issue is that, with a clear and obvious bias such as theirs, the data is very likely to be tainted as well or, at the very least, incredibly selectively presented.
We can take nothing from that 'study' except for the fact that it's been commissioned by a group of right wing racists, in order to drive their 'Brittin 4 da Brittishish' narrative.

But the "article" doesn't provide any actual data (or references as to where the data they have came from) that I could see when I scanned it.
It's an opinion piece that makes lots of claims and presents statistics but given it's bias without confirming that all the data came from a FOI request from the judiciary or similar I'm inclined to dismiss anything it says.
Others are free to take it as face value but should do so in the knowledge of who has produced it and what their agenda is.

On one side (like this article) - yes there's an obvious bias and it should be viewed with that in mind but that doesn't mean disregarding it completely.
One of my main critiques of the article is that I don't think there's a helpful definition of 'migrant' - it seems to be focussed on nationality whereas in my view there are plenty of non-UK nationals I wouldn't class as 'migrants'. So it is quite anti-foreigner, which I don't love.
At the same time, on the left we're terrible at having this discussion. Immigration is great - and if you question it you're a racist. Slight hyperbole, but you know what I mean.
It's a conversation that as a society we are just unable to have, and this thread - and others like it would support that.
There isn't really a political home for left-leaning people who have some concerns about the impact of immigration, nor a place where we can have that conversation.

One day they will realise that does their cause more harm than good. Well no, actually, they probably won't.

That surely depends what your concerns are and the evidence they are based on?

Immigration is great and if you don’t question it you’re a racist.
Who TF actually says that. But you’re quoting his line back at him as if he’s made some brilliant observation. He’s talking sh1te, I’ve never heard anyone say that.

Quite. It's boll0cks. There are plenty of grown up discussions about immigration that don't involve calling people racists or making claims that immigration is 100% a wonderful thing with zero drawbacks. I find these false narratives really tiresome.
(Not a pop at J2 particularly as I like J2, more general frustration that this stuff gets perpetuated when it's not true).

There is certainly an element of it. It happened with Brexit and it happens at every election.

Literally the next thing I put after that was "Slight hyperbole, but you know what I mean"

Benters has already had two references - I don't think I've ever seen anything directly racist from him yet his well-known concerns mean he's told he should be in the BNP.
It happens - it shouldn't - and it pushes people to the parties we then complain about.
