This season has been weird. 17:07 - Mar 11 with 5070 viewsLinners

There are 10 games left, and my overriding emotion is that I'm looking forward to it being over...but there's no doubt that there is something a bit special about the showbiz football in the PL. A bit like going out with a supermodel and their friends every weekend.

Might be nice to have another go in a year or two..?

Your super model girlfriend is out of your league and is leaving you for another guy. Sorry.

She's trashy and deep down she hates you.

I have really enjoyed it personally. Obviously would have been better to win more games but there is no doubt in my mind that the premier league is the place to be.

The championship is a great league but its a massive slog, especially with the TV deal now there are going to be a lot of early kick offs on Saturday, Sunday games, Monday games so not sure it will be any more convenient than the prem.

Lots of London games as well which is nice.

I actually hope it happens.

Let the top six go and leave the proper game to the rest of us, football can have a re-set and become a slightly more even playing field.

If it does happen I worry that it won’t actually change things that much.

What’s to stop increasing investment and big money being thrown at lower leagues and at whatever replaces the league after the Super League teams have left? It’s already happening at lower levels/leagues - it’s happened for us and to Wrexham.

Until the regulating bodies actually grow a pair and get an element of control back, I don’t think things will be changing in the direction football is heading.

I hope you are right and think Leeds will make a better go if it than us but Burnley I see coming back down along with Sheff Utd. At least one team is going to have to have a hell of a shocker for anyone to stay up. Statistically this year's bottom 3 is the worst ever despite two being recently relegated and one spending £150m. The trend of the last two years is undeniable.

I agree about Leeds, they're capable of mixing it in the Premier League. Farke doesn't have the best record, albeit with Norwich sides that weren't strong enough.

Leeds are starting from a higher base though and they've already got good quality and depth. If they recruit well they've got a chance, and Elland Road isn't an easy place to go.

In short - what stops it is no money or media interest. Watch how quickly foreign investment will drain out if the carrot of millions of pounds is gone.

I want the season over too. It’s been interesting but I’ve hated the structural uncompetitiveness of it and watching my team losing every week is no fun in previous bad seasons and isn’t now. It’s hard to look forward to games when you pretty much know the outcome and pattern.

I have detested the cardboard arch, shaking hands before trying to get a player sent off (Cucurella), plastic PL music, plastic away support, silly fireworks and the sheer grotesqueness. It’s not football as I know it.

But to completely contradict myself, I never thought I’d see this club anywhere near the Premier League again. It was some moment when they walked out against Liverpool. I’ve loved seeing the ground full and looking smart too. The standard of football at this level is off the scale.

I want us to be in this league. To be the best we can be. I’m not expecting the club to build a new stadium for £2bn that looks like a French dessert or to compete with the likes of Arsenal and Man City but why not with the Forests, Brightons, Fulhams and West Hams? That should be our ambition. We can achieve that.

I am gutted that in all likelihood we will get booted out and that we’ve fallen so far short. But the players and club have given their best A lot of money (for us) has been spent and I’m happy we’ve given it a go. Not trying and not knowing what might have been would have been awful and in football context cowardly..

I just hope that the club has prepared properly for all eventualities and learns from this. Onwards and upwards.

The worst thing for me is that the season feels so disjointed. There are such big gaps between home games and the match days/times are all over the place with hardly any midweek games.

I have no interest in watching other teams play in the Europe so I feel like I'm not getting much of a football "fix" :(

Since the new year I'm being drawn back to watching the chamoionship as each game feels more of an actual contest.

The prem is all well and good but in reality the media only care about Arsenal, United, Citeh, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool. If these 6 left and went and played each other on the moon for £8k a ticket I think English football underneath would be amazing.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

She might look nice, but she knows it.

The championship’s a much better ride.

It's stressful worrying whether she's cheating or not.

Better to be around someone who's genuinely in one's own league!

Although having money always helps...

I am probably in minority, but I have enjoyed this season, at least up until the Southampton game, in which we were simply not good enough.
The long term ambition for the club must be to compete at the highest level, what else would be the point? Maybe it came a little bit too soon with double promotions.
But no doubt the PL has been and will be good for the club and our progress. If (looking likely) we are going down I do hope we are back for the 26/27 season and have learned a few lessons and developed our scouting network and improved our academy.

Once the £100m+ a year from the PL is no longer available, far fewer chancers will bother investing in Football League clubs & some financial sense might return.

Cricket season starts in 3 weeks. So I can moan about how Essex haven't strengthened the batting lineup and how Surrey are the Man City of Cricket instead.
