Sorry to say it.....we need better than McKenna 15:49 - Mar 15 with 5433 viewsWarkystache

He's been brilliant but this just feels like capitulation.

We need better when we're back in the Championship or I genuinely think we'll be like Luton. We just go to pieces.

Why do 'we' deserve better. Entitlement level 1000.

McKenna took a team largely constructed in L1 and that didn't win L1 to promotion to the prem. He's absolutely outstanding and nothing this season changes that. We've fallen short as was the likely outcome but ahead of Leicester and Southampton who came up with us. It's just a really good league. There are lots of factors here. The primary reason we will be relegated is NOT McKenna.

WE will be very fortunate to still have him next season and I'm not sure we will.

Who is it you think is better than McKenna would actually come. He's one of the best young coaches in the country.

Awful, childish post.

I just think he will end up as a manager that promised much but failed on a lot..even if he brings us back up again..what's to say he will still stick to what he thinks is best ..id rather a foreign coach in now to be honest..i can't and don't want to have to stomach this experience again

"promised much but failed on a lot". What an I even reading!!!!! Back to back promotions!!!! He achieved A LOT. He did something incredible for this club. And this is what he gets. Bordering on shameful honestly.

Absolute nonsense.

Outstanding young manager, deserves every chance to right wrongs from this season. Still learning, still developing, and I’m sure he’s learnt a lot this season.

We’re nowhere near the point of asking questions of KMc position.

He remains untouchable.

Good luck trying to find a better manager than McKenna who would be up for managing Ipswich Town. The absolute state of the OP and some of those agreeing. We've got the lowest wage bill and squad value in the league. The way things have gone since Fulham away has been massively disappointing but we've had some horrible luck with injuries as well as just some horrible luck at times. Give your heads a wobble. McKenna has been the best thing to happen to Town in years.

He’s a young manager still learning - he’s 38 ffs. First season in the PL, of course he’s made mistakes and hopefully he’ll learn from them.

On this board, many bang on about how bad ‘modern football and modern fans’ are. Especially in regard to a lack of patience, well this thread is proof that a lack of perspective isn’t limited to the modern fan.

Absolute bell ends out in force in this thread as well this board in general today. Pricks.

So you're happy with the current state of affairs, eh Forever?

Clap on there then.

I'm definitely not.

I saw Champions League as the minimum I would accept and he's completely failed.

And to add, in the context of all the promoted sides last year doing so well and getting top half finishes in the hardest league in the world - I expected the least our team of largely still league 1 players would get is top 6.

Add to that we haven't spent anything and have failed to upgrade the squad at all, I think as fans we have every right to be angry at how things have played out this season. In addition, the very few signings we have had should have hit the ground running - most players immediately excel in the premier league and that's always the case when I play FIFA too, so I don't see why McKenna can't do as well as I do on FIFA.

Disgrace from top to bottom. Club needs a total overhaul.

When I play Football Manager, if I lose I simply restart from before that game. Scandalous that KM can’t go back in time and restart from 15:00 again.

I don't agree with this.

We might well have needed better this season, genuinely think going all out for a Moyes type might have seen us give it more of a go.

We're down now though, so it's all about the Championship. He might have failed this season, but there isn't anyone better than him to try and get us back up.

Excellent point well made.

What I can't get my head around is, why the new signings haven't hit the floor running. On FIFA, I just swap people in and out, no issues at all.

The Moyes option doesn't get you where you want to be in the long run, if we assume we want to be Brentford or Brighton. Abandoning principles to play a brand of football focussed on merely trying to survive is rarely/if ever a sustainable option unless you want to be Pulis' Stoke.

As much of a sht show it's been at times this season, KM sticking to his principles is/was probably the right call - especially as it looks like there's a chance he might now be here next year now.

They're only half as annoying as those that think it's fine to abuse people because they have a different opinion. It's a bit snowflakey.

McKenna would be the first to say it hasn't been good enough, he doesn't need fanboys getting upset every time he is criticised.

We will go again next year and hopefully he'll stay with us and repay our loyalty, and we will go up!

He may move on in the summer, Spuds or someone may take a chance on him but then again he hasn't done himself really any favours this season so maybe he will be with us next season.

Will have to see how things go and if we are mid table or worse in the Championship by December serious thought needs to be given a new manager.
