Jack Clarke 15:50 - Mar 30 with 3065 views | gtsb1966 | Got a lot of pelters on here this season, more than some, in what has been crap season let's be honest. Anyone else think he could be pivotal in us coming straight back up next season. I hope we keep him.
Jack Clarke on 15:54 - Mar 30 with 3001 views | SaffronWaldenBlues | For the price tag and the target of finishing 17, he was a particularly poor signing. No way good enough to play in the Premier League. Top ten team standard player in the Championship though, so may be more useful next season but we paid way over the odds.

He was in the top 5 players in the league last year, let alone top 10 teams
Jack Clarke on 16:02 - Mar 30 with 2910 views | Nthsuffolkblue | A lot of next season depends on us developing effective partnerships all over the pitch. If Clarke, Philogene and a striker can link up effectively with Burns, Szmodics or Chaplin we could score a lot of goals and be immensely entertaining. Imagine getting what Sunderland, Hull and Blackburn got from those players alongside what we got from Chaplin/Burns. The flip side is that if they cannot develop an understanding together we could be a disjointed set of individuals and struggle.

The trouble is we really haven’t had a set up for him to fit into. The forwards have taken a lot of grief this season, a lot of it undeserved. I’ve watched Clarke for example having to fetch the ball from inside his own penalty area dogged by two or three of the opposition, Philogene standing for half a game in space and not receiving the ball. Forwards by and large need some sort of service. That Delap has been able to make the odd thing happen by turning and barrelling through is a credit to him but also to his size and strength. I agree in that I thought Clarke would be more effective, but that goes for a number of players. Not having a settled team for various reasons in contrast to last season has not helped. The players look for each other half the time if they ever get the ball in a way they didn’t have to in the Championship. Do that in the PL, forget it. You need to know where people are without looking. Clarke is a much better player than he’s looked. Omari is too and will improve. I hope we keep these younger lads, though I suspect some will move on. There’s been a lot for the players to learn this season. They now know what it takes in this league, whether here or at a better club. The same applies to McKenna and his staff and all areas of the football club.
Jack Clarke on 16:27 - Mar 30 with 2769 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | He’s been played out of his natural position (more centrally), whereas he was most effective out wide for Sunderland. In my opinion he’s looked much better lately since getting more game time with Szmodics out. He’s picked up a few goals in the cup, and lately a few assists in the league. Think some of the criticism is unfair to be honest, he’s had a better assist per minute return than Omari, who I’d argue has been more disappointing in my opinion. Hope we can keep him next year and continue to bed him in as more of a no. 10.
Jack Clarke on 16:39 - Mar 30 with 2678 views | WolfieAtTheBack | Best player on the pitch against Coventry, so you would like to think he will do the business in the championship weekly. In saying this, hopefully he will be allowed to all out attack and not do this season's role which let's face it is not his game. Expect Leeds to be in for him as well, Leeds love the full circle.

Ridiculously stupid take There wont be a single team in the Championship, this season or next who wouldn't want him. Please note that the players haven't suddenly become crap just because the team has struggled.

He’s either a budgie or the kind of person you accidentally trip up on the stairs on the way out having listened to 90 minutes of negative drivel. Nah, bet he knows all the words to ‘on the ball city’

I’ve not come on here for almost two weeks because of the incessant negative cr@p from a group of posters, most of whom have no posting history beyond the last 18 months. I’ve clicked on four or five threads in the last 24 hours and you’re on every single one posting negative comments. Have you not got anything better to do? I’m done with it here - it’s worse on here now than when we were a mid-table League One team
Jack Clarke on 21:37 - Mar 30 with 1679 views | Westover | I don't think Clarke and Philogene can both play in the same team if we want to get the best out of them, Philogine played 20 minutes for England under 21 last week on the left and looked a different player and scored and looks a better player than Clarke IMO.

Szmodics? It's worth noting that Sunderland fans were concerned that he started brilliantly, but they felt that he ran out of steam a bit in the second half of the season. But every year he gets stronger and more experienced, and he may have developed a niggle and played on with it for the good of the team- who knows?

That coincides with Sunderland normally running out of steam in the second half of the season tbf. His last 2 championship seasons he has had 15 goals 4 assists and 9 goals 12 assists and he is only 24 so you would expect him to keep improving and he is a player who can give you more than stats. Szmodics had an unreal season last year and I see absolutely no reason he couldn't score a hatful in the champ again, but that was really his first big season and he is a bit older.

Jack Clarke on 13:44 - Mar 31 with 698 views | baxterbasics | We *may* lose Hutch and likely Delap, but I will feel pretty happy if Clarke, Philogene and Szmods are in the squad next year. All proven Championship kings, along with old guard Chaplin, Broadhead and Burns. As we've heard dozens of times here already - the CM positions are where the questions need to be answered.

Jack Clarke on 14:44 - Mar 31 with 618 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | He's played his best football in the Championship, but it wasn't for us. He was our best player against Coventry in the FA Cup, so there's a sign of what we could see from him next season if we are relegated. He hasn't landed on his feet at all in the Premier League and that's football - sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. He was one of the best players in the Championship last season and because of that, got a move to the Prem. Hopefully he starts the new season well and regains some confidence, but so far it has looked like a square peg in a round hole in our system, so hopefully it can click for him.
