Bournemouth fans booing their team at FT on 08:03 - Apr 3 by MattinLondon
Fans - relegation and promotion is great as it allows the smaller clubs to rise from the bottom leagues to the top.
Bournemouth climb through the leagues.
Same fans - no, not like them.
Financial doping from Russian investment isn't exactly a Cinderella story. If they'd become more than the nothing club they started out as then fair enough, but they still play in a tiny, 4th tier ground and their fans are crap.

Fans - there is far, far, far too much money in the game and Bournemouth encapsulate this better than anyone else, demonstrating effective money-laundering on an industrial scale.
MattInLondon - this is a fairytale story of David vs Goliath, an underdog story so beautiful that it bewilders me that Hollywood haven't drawn a storyboard up, perhaps with Will Smith playing Dominic Solanke and Joe Pesci playing Eddie Howe. Furthermore, we should all move to Poole tomorrow.

I never said that Bournemouth was a ‘Cinderella’ story but they have successfully gone from being a fourth tier team to being a Premier League side.
Yes, they’ve spent a lot of money but so what - I didn’t hear that many people complain when Marcus Evans was initially happy to throw money at the team in order to try and gain promotion into the PL.
I like the fact that there are teams in the Premier League which have traditionally been small fry in English football.

There weren't many complaints when itfc threw money at getting out of league 1 either. Russian billionaires, American pension funds... All the same.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

You're missing the context. People here are referring to the plucky little Bournemouth tag, a Cinderella team which hasn't (rightly) been aimed at Town. You're not comparing like with like. Just jealous?

A little bit jealous, yeah!
I don't think I'm missing the context though. Afterall, some of you lot putting Bournemouth down as a tin-pot little 4-th tier club that shouldn't be in the prem, sounds pretty familiar... A bit like the crap Ipswich have got for not being good enough for the prem / shouldn't be there etc...
Its all the same one-eyed stuff you get from footy fans i spose.

I think what many of us don't like is clubs with traditionally smaller fan bases than us thriving in the PL e.g. Bournemouth, especially while we are unlikely to survive.

There is a difference between dodgy, money-laundering Russian billionnaires and above-board, legit American ones.
There's a difference in source, yeah fair enough, but not in end result for football teams / competition being distorted by non-football-generated wealth.

Beaten by little old Ipswich. Many fans sees us as crap simply because we are in the bottom Three and anything less than beating us isn’t good enough. Our league position correctly shows us where we deserve to be at this stage of the season. Unfortunately from our perspective, many fans and pundits alike fail to acknowledge just how competitive we’ve been at times particularly early season. Holding Liverpool at half time in our very first game, taking the lead and performing really well a week later against City, beating Spurs at their place and leading games where ultimately our fitness levels dropped against established Premier League teams who then saw us off. On our day, we’re capable of competing and beating decent top teams as we showed Bournemouth last night. If we do get relegated we’ll be back, stronger for the experience. COYB.

That line of thinking sounds quite elitist to me - do people really not want smaller clubs to better themselves? If for example Mansfield were suddenly backed by a huge pension fund would they still be saying ‘nah, still a tinpot club?
And let’s face it we don’t like it like when fans of big clubs appear to be condescending towards smaller PL clubs.

As far as I'm aware, we've not breached what are now quite stringent PSR rules. Bournemouth were running at eye watering losses for years before more of an interest was taken in FFP. When we were competing with them in 2014/15 they spent loads and had a massive wage bill despite being a tiny club generating hardly any revenue. They wouldn't be able to do that now.
