Why would people want to congratulate a party led by a charlatan, that has no credible policies, and that gets by solely by stoking up hatred towards immigrants and playing on people's prejudices? That they've won the by election isn't something to celebrate, it's something to be pretty despondent about.

My only hope is that any successes they achieve today will give the electorate four years to find out just how crap at government they actually are.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/may/02/keir-starmer-told-to-start-list

'In Doncaster, where Labour’s Ros Jones won her fourth term as mayor with a majority of less than 700 votes after a close challenge by Reform, she criticised Starmer’s changes to the winter fuel allowance, rise in employers’ national insurance contributions and welfare reforms.
....... She added: “I think the results here tonight will demonstrate that they need to be listening to the man, woman and businesses on the street, and actually deliver for the people, with the people.” '

The mistake you're making Benters is to think that Farage and his backers give a stuff for the people.

Labour also need to stop trying to out-Reform them with their own anti-immigrant rhetoric. I get what they are trying to do, they're trying to make Reform irrelevant by addressing the one issue Reform address. But you aren't going to out-Reform them and the people voting for Reform aren't going to switch to Labour. All it's doing is turning off people who might otherwise naturally be Labour voters. They need to start actually trying to make the country a better place rather than targeting marginalised groups. They aren't as good at doing that as the Tories or Reform so stop trying.

Whenever UKIP got into local government they were a complete car crash, the same will be the case with Reform. People will vote for them anyway as their base don't care about competence, they only care about kicking brown people out of the country.

Not sure a man of your advancing years should be bigging up someone who's promising to make your life shorter and more unpleasant.

Yup that 1% increase in the Green vote share probably comfortably covers those 6 votes. Still not sure why anyone votes Labour though in all honesty.

Like it or lump it Herbivore but the reason people are voting Reform is because of people like you.

Whenever people question the amount and speed of uncontrolled immigration they are called racist or idiotic schoolboy comments about a dislike of “Brown people”

You and your ilk have enabled the likes of Nigel Farage so suck it up baby.

…..downvoters will underline blindness.

Amazing to learn it's all the fault of lefties when we've had hard and far right Tory governments(and a centrist Labour one prior to that) from 2010 through 2024.

There is something in what Alan's saying here Herbie...
"People will vote for them anyway as their base don't care about competence, they only care about kicking brown people out of the country."

I think what they/we care about is being marginalised and ignored for decades by ruling parties of both shades of neo-Con. Capitalism isn't working, Reform won't be changing that either.

Nah, it's a lazy line people trot out to make themselves feel better. People on here who are fans of Reform aren't anti-capitalist, they are anti-immigration.

Fair to say the deeper into their base you go the more anti immigrant (and all out racist) they are and the ones on here seem to be in pretty deep!
