Been saying for quite a while now that our midfield needs a total revamp. Phillips will be gone along with Cajuste and Loungo. That at present just leaves Morsy, Taylor and Humphreys.
Morsy will be a year older, Taylor hasn't managed to tie a place down in two seasons and Humphreys can't be relied upon as being good enough. Yes by all means give the lad a go, but we don't want to be relying on those three and should they fail having to wait for the transfer window in January. |  | | |

I put a post on here a few weeks back about Taylor, I haven't been convinced by him since he first signed to be honest. Was expecting a lot more from a player McKenna chased for so long. Wouldn't be disappointed to see him moved on in the summer. |  |

Jack had a bad day today and it was a different game when Cajuste came on. Think there is a player there but only good as a squad player. Had a difficult day - levels are evident in comparison to Cajuste, in a snapshot it shows where we are as to where we needed to be.
Think writing him off in the Championship is probably unjust though, as part of the ‘group’ of CM he’s more than capable at that level as we’ve seen - but there is no doubt the engine room needs some strengthening in the summer. |  | | |

I am still waiting to see this dominating Central midfielder that Taylor is claimed to be. He has not improved at all in 2 years under McKenna which is damning. Again today he showed he has not the slightest clue how to play as a holding midfielder (I can't remember a single challenge) and he is only marginally better as a 10 - yes he may be a great 8 but we do not play that role in our system. He has also not formed a partnership on the pitch with any of our players (in the way Mass and Morsy have). If Taylor starts every game next season I doubt we will even make the playoffs. I'm on the same page , he's probably been our most disappointing permanent signing in the McKenna era. He's not progressed at all and has shown nothing other than a couple of worldys in 2 seasons. I can't ever remember watching any game he's played in and he's stood out as one of the best players on the pitch. | | | |

Agree that he’s not good enough for the premier league but I actually think he could be a decent player at Championship level. The issue is he doesn’t really fit into a 2 man midfield, he’s more of an No.8 in a 3 as someone else said in the chat room earlier but KM has, to my memory, never played 3 in the middle so given that I find him a strange signing as he’s never going to fit into the system we play. While he’s at ITFC I never see him being more than a sub who makes the occasional start and has minimal impact. But however we look at things central midfield is definitely due a revamp | | | |

Wouldn’t start for most of the top 6 in the champ, so we should be looking elsewhere. As I said last week he’s not really a player that’s going to be behind the 10s and no chance he’s going to start behind the striker in our squad, so… | | | |

Looked completely lost today didn't he? Too easy to play round and too slow to get back once he's beaten. Got to be honest thought when we signed him he didn't seem a natural fit for our system and have yet to be convinced in any way otherwise.
Once again though the opposition midfield looked streets ahead of ours - thought Morsy actually improved in the 2nd half but still looks so slow compared to what he's up against.
Old news to everyone at this point but central midfield is so glaringly the main area to target for investment this summer. |  |
