I was once at Stamford Bridge when Gerrard got a standing ovation as he was subbed off in one of his final games for Liverpool.
For context, Gerrard jilted Chelsea twice after agreeing to sign for them and had been their nemesis of sorts for 15 years.

It seemed distasteful to me on a day when the entire Leicester crowd had been given flags with Vardy's name on it, and even mores so when aimed at his wife.
I said to my mates that we would regret it, and indeed we did.

I clapped the Bergen goal back in 2002 but the circumstances were different. We were 6 or 7 in front and it was showing respect to a semi- professional opponent. Agree clapping Jamie Vardy scoring against us was wrong but clapping him off the pitch correct. Gary McCallister received a good reaction from us at Anfield in 2002. [Post edited 18 May 22:20]
