Don’t get me wrong I’m all for McKenna it’s just a general question which stemmed from a conversation in the pub after the game

Do you reckon mckennas position has been looked at in anyway?

We’ve won 1 of our last 20 league games
Only won 4 of our last 44 games in all competitions
Won 1 home game all season

I mean them stats in them self are horrendous

Thoughts?

No.

In Ashton and ORG we have astute people in charge.

Just as they didn't sack KM when certain people were spouting nonsense after Cambridge and Oxford and Bristol R away!

This seasons lack of success started with the ridiculous unnecessary prolonged drawn out farce that was KM on/off contract negotiations. Not the best way to start your first Premiership campaign for over 20 years. You cannot tell me that this did not unsettle the players, recruitment and the fans.

Whoever was manager it wouldn't make any difference this season. To come from L1 meant we could never build a PL squad in one season, and the owners know that.
They aren't the type of owners to overreact. So no.

No. Because it's clear he's done an outstanding job as our manager.

The club AND McKenna will look at the season and analyse what they need to do to kick on to the next level.

They’ll be disappointment and lessons learned along with some honest conversations in the season debrief I’m sure. However, the ownership group will have a longer memory than one year of trying to compete in the strongest league in the world after back to back promotions.

Not only that but he would have been very involved in the signings, they have not all have worked but it was obviously the biggest spend in our history, so they’ll want to see them develop under him. rather than brining someone else in with different ideas.

He’s got enough credit in the bank from the previous two seasons, however I do believe if we get off to a slow start next season he’s going to start feeling the heat not just from the owners and Ashton, but the fans too. Those stats don’t make for good reading. Hypothetically, would we have done better with a manager with more Premier League experience? Someone like David Moyes? I just feel frustrated as for all the bravado that we were going to be the best equipped out of the promoted sides to make the jump, there’s little doubt we’ve gone down with a whimper over the last few months.

It's been a dreadful season ... off the back of 2 fantastic ones that were far beyond expectations. McKenna's reputation has taken a hit but there was a lot of credit in the bank. If he can repeat or get close to the last Championship season next season all is fine. Fall much short and the questions start to materialise. It is a pressure he hasn't faced yet so it will be very interesting how he steps up to it.

Everyone in the club will say No but if we are not on track come early December he will be gone. A very important few months incoming and outgoing players. Results are everything in football.

No.

He’s a victim of his/our own success.

Nobody expected us to reach the PL so soon.

Even when we have to sell a few players, the squad is stronger than than the squad who got us here, so a massive foundation to build upon.

Having read the Mark Ashton’s article in today’s programme I agree we are in a stronger position than we were 12 months ago both on and off the pitch. I also reckon the jump from division 1 to the Premiership in consecutive seasons was too much, but we have learnt a lot from it. I hope KM stays and leads us back into the Premiership next season.

He had plenty of credit in the bank prior to this season which has got him through. However, the coming season is going to be a challenge.

Looking at it dispassionately he’s under real pressure to deliver right from the off, for the first time since he got here. He needs a very good transfer window, he needs a good start in a division which will be ready for us this time and he needs to have us in contention for promotion by Xmas. If he doesn’t achieve that he could be in trouble, in my opinion anyway.

Hopefully all goes well and it doesn’t come to that but, as I’ve said before, American business generally doesn’t respond to perceived ‘failure’ very well. Our owners have invested a lot of money and want a return. If McKenna doesn’t look like he’s going to do the business next season they will act, regardless of what he’s done previously.

This season has been massively disappointing. We never got a foothold with a few early season syrprise wins, kike a lot of promoted trams seem to do, and just just worse as the season went on. Some of KM's gloss has certainly worn off - he hasnt worked any magic at all.
But can the season be called a failure, when everyone in the game had us down for relegation from the start? And if wete honest most of us said that wed be happy with 17th?
Our recruitment model was unflinching in building a Championship 'dream team' in the hope that the cream of the champ would be enough to stay up. Weve found out that it wasnt, by a long way.
So for me overall i say its been a huge disappointment but not a failure.
And I agree with others who have said the KM faces a new challange in the months ahead - managing pressure from expected success.
His oth challange will be to pick up the players and get their confidence back.

His position will be looked at and a thorough end of season review will (in my opinion) take place this week.
However I believe his job is safe, but questions need to be asked and improvements will be needed. It's the nature of the game.
As fans we are allowed to question tactics, team selections and transfers, but we need to do it respectfully and constructively. We invest a lot of money, time and emotions in football and sometimes we need a break, I know I do, so let's enjoy summer and come back refreshed and positive next season. UPPA TOWEN!

Nuno Espirito Santo spends the majority of matches outside the technical area?

Why doesn't he get yellow carded and sent off?

There's a Fourth Official at every game responsible for monitoring it.

Most managers you hire fail. Rare enough to find one that achieves roughly in line with your budget, let alone takes you to back-to-back promotions. When you find one that does that, you have to hold on to them as long as you possibly can.

We’ve fallen short in a number of areas, but I really don’t see a better person than McKenna to be in the dugout in August. Knows the club well now, knows the group, knows how to get promoted, clearly has a good relationship with Ashton & co and there’s a reason he was so highly coveted last summer. He’s not become a bad manager overnight.

There will be change this summer, but we don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water. The best thing supporters can do is keep backing him and the squad as we have done and hopefully we’ll be rewarded with a successful season.

I'm glad the BBC are focusing on such important matters when it comes to football unlike, say, the utter mess FFP and EPPP have caused to the game.
