Off the back of that number, the majority are obvious straight away, presuming loans count. The 'churn of 10' excludes loan players. We're talking 10 contracted players leaving. My best guess right now would be: Walton Muric Tuanzebe Burgess Harness Al-Hamadi Luongo Delap Taylor Broadhead

They probably can but it all depends if we want to sell him, jt would be foolish to let a player like that go

Now the dust has settled who do we expect to leave in the summer: on 11:40 - May 26 with 754 views | Trequartista | I don't really think O'Shea and Hutchinson have done enough to impress Premier League clubs, and neither have been Ipswich Town players for 12 months. I suspect the only interest might come from the 3 who have gone up but I don't see that as the next step up in Hutchinson's career, and does O'Shea want to just keep getting relegated every season? Other than that agree apart from Broadhead who I'd select regularly if he can stay clear of injury

Thanks for the clarification. I think we'll keep Muric. I can't see how we'll be able to recoup the loss on him. There will be a difference on who we want to leave and who will actually leave due to interest. I imagine it'll end up being something like... Walton, H Clarke, Davis, O'Shea, Burgess, Luongo, Harness, Hutchinson, Al-Hamidi, Delap

For this reason, I still wonder why Woolfenden signed a new contract. He should have done a Burgess. To me, he seemed disconnected from everyone else during the walk round until Broadhead joined him.

Why are so many people sure Walton is leaving? Has he not been pretty much ideal alternating between first and second choice, with no public sulking or complaining.

I don't think we'll want three "first choice" keepers on our books for next season. Though, thinking about it, we'll probably want to loan Slicker out so perhaps he will be kept as long as he's satisfied with being the number three next year.

I know you’re ITK and I hope you’re right but I can’t see Dara staying. He’d be ideal for any of the promoted teams, unless they think he’s a Jonah after his last two seasons which is possible, superstitious people are rife in professional football. I think we’ll lose at least 3 of the big 3 - him Delap Omari and Leif. Everyone shouted at me the other day when I said we’d need at least ten new players this summer 😞

Phillips Cajuste Enciso Godfrey Delap Those 5 are nailed on. Cajuste is perhaps the more likely to be here next season but I can’t really see it myself. Al-Hamadi Harness Luongo Muric They’ll all go in some capacity. Tuanzebe Burgess H. Clarke Walton Taylor 2 or 3 of them will go I think. Bigger ticket ones like O’Shea, Davis, Hutchinson. Perhaps 1 or 2 of them, ideally they all stay. 10-15 out including the 4 loans I reckon.

The target is to have a stronger squad than the one we started with in August 2024. Not sure how that'll be possible on a smaller budget, but that's the hierarchy's aim. |
Sale of Delap and perhaps one other, that'd probably give us circa 100m to spend...

Now the dust has settled who do we expect to leave in the summer: on 12:06 - May 26 with 636 views | ringwoodblue | After this season, I’m not particularly bothered who goes as long as we get good money for those still in contract. My only exceptions to this would be Woolfie, Morsy and Chaplin who have been with us throughout the journey and Id really like them to stay. I would add Burns to that list but I’m afraid he is too injury prone and we will struggle to get 20 games out of him next season. The key is the recruitment of new players that must have the right mix of physicality and flair. We can’t afford to buy any more crocks who spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch.

I broadly agree with your assessment of him but he’s only got a year left contracted to us and like a number of others this summer is stick or twist time for him and the club. If we don’t act on the guys with a year to go then we’re potentially letting a few million pounds worth of players leave in the summer of 26 leave for nothing.

Relegated players sign for promoted teams less often is imagined. It only happened 4 times in the last 3 seasons and we did 3 of them!

I imagine the enquiry has been ongoing since relegation was assured. There is a very quick turnaround between seasons this year; we cannot really afford to wait for a review.

Now the dust has settled who do we expect to leave in the summer: on 12:45 - May 26 with 545 views | burnbudgiesburn | Ideally, i'd like (and I think McKenna/Town would like) to keep O'Shea, Hutchinson, Clarke, Davis and Johnson at the club next season. All are absolute top champ talent. I think realistically we could lose none or all of them or anywhere inbetween, but should they go it will be on Towns terms/Clauses met etc. We are not going to be doing a firesale for our best players. I do expect rumours of attention for all of them at some point, however. I think if we lose 15+ players, its not ideal even if we would have a huge ass wedge of cash as a result. I think we'd see the dreaded G word early next season as a new team needs time to gel. 10 is natural churn (losing loanees/expired contracts etc) which doesn't really affect the 1st team much

Now the dust has settled who do we expect to leave in the summer: on 09:06 - May 26 by BeachBlue | I sincerely doubt we'll see Muric, in an Ipswich shirt again. Johnson will go for the right fee. Al-Hamadi and Harness will move on. Hutchinson, in my opinion should stay and play regular first team football, sorry but I don't think he's premier league standard yet, he'll get there, but being a sub in a premier league team won't help. Burns, I love the guy and it pains me to say it but I worry this injury will hurt his pace and he won't be the same. 😐 Other than that, I don't know, I fear tough decisions will be made but change is necessary. Sorry but one home win all season is a terrible statistic and we have to aim for at least top six next season. |

That may be true to a large extent, but we know that Delap is leaving and we know that he is leaving on terms that were very much at his insistence rather than Town's, i.e. a relegation release clause that allows him to leave for much less than he would otherwise be worth. We don't know how many of our other better players have clauses that are unfavourable. We also know that Axel and Burgess (two of our better defenders in terms of results and performances) have a perfect right to leave, because we have no terms with them at all. I think that losing Axel and Burgess would affect the first team personally. I would have them both starting in the Championship, myself. Our wins were as rare as hens' teeth this season, but ALL BUT ONE of them came when Burgess started. I'd rather have Burgess than Greaves. Because I'd rather have wins than alleged potential. Burgess win ratio 30%. Greaves win ratio 5.5%. There needs to be a lot of waking up going on as to (a) who our best players are, and (b) quite how terrifically disappointing some of our kid-in-a-sweet-shop signings were. So I'm not really sure we can be quite so confident about players only leaving on our terms.

A better squad than August 2024? A better squad than the one with Delap in it? No. That's not going to happen. We'll do well to have a better squad than August 2023 if we lose Davis, Tuanzebe and/or Burgess. Morsy for me still has it, but he'll be 2 years older than 2023. We have to sort GK out, which has been an embarrassing shambles this season. I don't suppose there are many who think that a settled presence of Hladky would've been markedly worse than what we saw this season, and he would clearly have been cheaper. Midfield needs a total overhaul. In the attacking positions we need to keep all of the skinny kids happy whilst also getting a tune out of them, and we need to spend really effectively up front, as we can't have a situation where Hirst has no reliable back up. Preferably we'd sign someone who could rival Hirst as no.1 striker. Much to do.
