...would he be worth considering at Championship level?
My gut feel is no because whilst he's decent at tier 2 level, his injury record is poor and I don't think he has the physicality to play in the Premier League, so we're better off with splurging a good whack on a hot young prospect with a top physique and perhaps a third striker in the mould of Big Keiff.

I would definitely take him.
He's got goals in him at this level and that is what we need. When I've seen him I've been impressed, and he has always seemed to be very highly rated by 'pundits'.
But I must confess, I haven't been keeping tabs on what's been said about him leaving and where he might go, so I'm very out of the loop. |  | | |

Sargent has a good goal scoring record over the last 3, admittedly injury hit, seasons & he did make the EFL Team of the Season so if people could forget the Norwich connection (he won't give a damn about it) he'd be a good signing if we felt comfortable about his fitness, given Hirst's apparent fraglity. |  |

I'd sign him in a heartbeat, if for no other reason than to reinforce our superiority over them.

This is sort of where I am on it too.
So I think we definitely need a robust player who fits our style and who we can develop for PL over the course of next season. That guy might need to come from abroad.
Hirst probably does 60 minutes a game and this new guy does 30, with Sargent as cover for either. But then do we need a fourth No.9 because of Sargent's frailty and to a lesser extent Hirst's?
Hirst is fantastic for how we play at Championship level, but lacks the acceleration and burst of power that Delap has at Premier League level.
I think we probably want two robust youngsters to develop and would assume that at least one, probably both, of them will need to come from overseas. | |

I dont think the obsession is due to the Norwich connection - it is because when fit he has probably the best goal contribution stats in the Championship - I remember the NTT20 podcast people showing his numbers are really good

Eh? He's more likely to go Low Prem, or MLS.
He would be good for us were it not for injuries. Even if poor Norwich sides he's the best goal-to-minute striker at Champs level.

As a player for the championship 100%.
But if we're going to buy players who are also PL ready then no.
However it's pointless buying x-Norwich players. As soon as he has a couple of bad games (and all players have those during a season) the fans will turn on him because of the Norwich connection.

Eh? He's a top 3 striker in the division for me and fits out system like a glove. Would be a no brainer if we could get him and also would be hilarious for 'bantz'. There is zero chance he is heading for a lower champ side. Will be a top champ side or promoted Prem or top division side elsewhere.
He's very good. Too good for Norwich but his injury record is the only question mark. It's also only reason he's not in prem. His physicality is Prem when not broken. | |

I know he plays for them lot but that's a bit ridiculous. He is a very proven goal scorer, injuries are the only really he stayed there this long.
A team coming down is the type of club that would be looking at him, although I'd be inclined not to for a few reasons, if not a team like Leeds to compete possibly. [Post edited 30 May 15:26]
