Farage has never faced scrutiny. He's lost so many elections, that when he's finally had any sense of power or responsibility he's failed massively.
Let alone, he's taken on the worst of the Tories who got us here, pointing out he's talking nonsense and fantasy is exactly what needs to happen. Give him time to prove he's not a grifting fascist, and do something worthwhile.
Waiting until it's election time and too late, allows Farage to promise everything and not worry about it. The media constantly overrepresent Farage and his collection of unvetted bigots, crackpots and racebaiters. Letting them speak is the best way to show them for what they are.

Needs to concentrate on calling everyone who doesn’t vote for him far right nazis tbh
In all fairness, if you're voting for someone who once addressed an actual nazi rally and spent a lot of January cosying up to a sieg ceiling billionaire....

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
And if Starmer said nothing, your post here would be, "OMG, look how Starmer's avoiding the elephant in the room, he must be running SCARED to not even address Farage."

But he’s a man of the normal people and is pictured holding a pint of beer frequently*
* By normal people, I mean a privately educated former commodity trader who banks at Coutts where you need investible assets of £1m to have an account with them. He wants rid of the NHS in favour of a US style insurance based system too.

And let's not forget him throwing his toys out of the pram when Coutts decided that they didn't like being associated with Fascists.

I’m sorry that can’t be right - a privately educated man, born into relative privilege and who worked in the city! If thats right, that would make hate preacher Farage part of the establishment - and he’s been banging on how much he isn’t part of the establishment. That’ll make him a liar and a shameless charlatan.

Carrying on the fine tradition of twtd political trolling that has been a staple of this place for failed politicians, Russian BOTs and conspiracy theorist nutbags.
“I would be telling him not to even mention Farage. An election is at least 4 years away he should be concentrating on his party and his policies”.
Me too. From what I’ve read, it seems that he’s being badly advised by his Chief of Staff, Morgan McSweeney. It was reported this week that Starmer wants to get rid of the 2 child limit on child benefit, but McSweeney thinks that could lose them political support.
First, why the feck is Starmer not prepared to override his advisor if he knows something is the right thing to do? And yes, why pander to UKIP voters when it won’t work (and is meaningless this far out from an election as you say).

The problem for me, is, much like Trump, letting people like Farage speak to ‘show them for what they are’ doesn’t put gullible, ignorant xenophobes off in the slightest.
Quite the reverse, it reinforces the belief they’re no longer the cerebrally challenged outliers within society.
Someone’s finally speaking their language, stoking up their hatred and telling them their miserable existence really is down to immigrants stealing their livelihoods and benefits.
A few of the usual suspects on here will be along shortly, like wasps at a picnic, to furiously dab the downvote button whilst staying silent.

Mullet, I hope you won't be offended by this, but every time your avatar scrolls into the bottom of my page now, I see you as a hairy Weetabix!
It's something to do with the curve of the top of your head, the straightness of the sides and the colours. Your powerful-looking shoulders do kind of spoil the illusion when they come into view, but nevertheless...
I just thought I ought to let you know.
(Of course, I realise that this isn't necessarily an accurate facsimile of your good self.)

Yep, it doesn’t put people off at all. Quite the opposite as all the coverage they get just widens their reach.
I had the misfortune of having R5 on all day earlier this week as I was doing something that needed a distraction. Three consecutive programmes had Farage as their lead item. Reform couldn’t get better advertising if they paid for it. I bet the Lib Dem’s with their fourteen times more MPs would love that sort of coverage. It wasn’t even critical coverage. Just the BBC’s normal approach of repeating whatever message Farage wanted broadcast.
