Lunch with Mrs C in Aldeburgh today after a mooch around. The Upper Deck, ‘admirals’ portion (large) and a pot of tea. Lovely service, clean, efficient, nice little room. Cod and chips to die for. 10/10.

Lasts in Snape as a kid was fantastic, think they had vans too. As has been said Aldeburgh F&C on the beach is one of life’s great pleasures - that and a good pint of Adnams. I start getting excited about them both as I come round the bend and see the sign for Suffolk on the A12. |  |

I have always said that the F&C from the shop in the middle of the high street are way better than the ones at the end of the high street.
Tends to be less people at the one in the middle of the high street as well. |  |

The blue fronted one is the main takeaway, the Upper Deck and another place are the restauranty bits. Very nice too. A5 12.45 had to wait 10 mins for a table and it was full while we were there. Popular for a reason. | | | |

About £14 for the small, £16 for moby dick on a plate. The fish flaked at the touch of the knife, perfect batter, freshly cooked. Chips plentiful and nice. Stoke’s sauces to add to the fun. Drinks (tea and soft drink) plus tip £40.00.
It was a similar price to the Maybush last night but with bigger portions, looking at the dude next door’s plate. I had the minted lamb burger yesterday. | | | |

I would Joey. I’ve had very good F&Cs at other coastal places too. Yarmouth as a child - spectacular. Brighton - excellent. Other places too. Somehow inland, not the same. Abroad? Not the same thing at all. In America it’s all bits of fish in batter and tasteless chips (fries over there. Grrrr). | | | |
