We really need to get the midfield right and I'm a little anxious about it, but on paper Matusiwa seems about as good an addition we could get in this particular role. Appears a good character too. High hopes. I expect we are going to need two more midfielders at least; let's hope some more additions come in soon. | |

In squad terms the two signings are great ahead of Austria.
We now have a starting 11 on paper. We now have our goalkeeper and defense groups locked on paper. We now have at least two players fit in each attacking position, that’s excluding OH as I assume he has another week holiday. This is probably the most balanced we’ve been for our early preseason camp for several years.
There is business to come:
Need
-1 CM
-1 Forward/striker
Need to balance GK position
Likely lose 2 in that group of 4 (not including Button)
After that it’s more subjective and depends on sales or where we can opportunistically trade and upgrade.
The squad is at 26 (excluding Button, including Baggott and Humphries)
2 keepers to leave and minimum 2 to come which probably relegates Baggott and could make make Burns unregistered until Jan to free up the space alongside the probable OH sale, and now we here possible move for Sammy Morsy.
Guesswork but there are still several ins and outs to come to complete the squad but hopefully they land in a squad that is building momentum by the time they arrive. [Post edited 14 Jul 7:52]

I was purely looking at additions to what we have, not additions to replace the subtractions!
I too think Hutch will leave but I'm not sure whether we will replace him this season. With J Clarke, Broadhead, Szmodics, Chappers, Philogene, Ogbene & Burns all vying for 3 positions then I don't think there's the need to. That's an embarrassment of riches at Championship level!
I think 1x CM to accompany Morsy, Matusiwa, Humphreys & Taylor.should be plenty.
The GK situation will be sorted with the departure of Muric (unfortunately) and Slicker out on loan. That leaves us with Palmer, Walton & Button.

I wouldn’t rule out 2-3 CMs. Humphreys being given pre season but will probably be loaned out to a lower champ team and Morsy going is more likely than some think.

How is Johnson leaving? He’s played 90 games in the Premier League and none in the Championship?
We’ve seen how very good Championship players have struggled to make much impression on the Premier League. I have high hopes that Johnson will do very well for us next season.

Same here, a striker and a CM and that's us done.
If Hutchinson does go, we still have Philogene and Ogbene to play there and Burns hopefully back as soon as possible.
Don't think we'll let Chaplin go and i'd actually be surprised to see Morsy leave, surely he's the ultimate pro and person to have around in his final season, whether he starts or is the "2 for each position" with Azor (assuming they're the same type/position).
I like Jack Taylor, but as some say, he's not really helped by how we play and the type of player he is, so whilst he's a very able player, I don't think he'll be first on the team sheet in the middle, but perhaps I'm wrong.
We need another striker, Hirst and Al-Hamadi aren't doing a season and whilst that's not where our goals tend to come from, Hirst does really make us tick up there and AAH isn't the same type of player.
If Omari goes, we're still well set in either the wide right or no 10 that he's played in. Hence if he does go, more important to keep Chaplin. |  | | |
