I really hope not.

That would go against Ashton’s comments of seeking a different kind of player from now on and also show a lack of ambition that the other transfers haven’t shown.

If he wasn't injured so often, I'd jump at the chance. Would be outstanding at Champ level.

However, there is the fitness issue and wages would also be a problem is he wasn't willing to take (what is likely to be) a very big cut.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I don't think you can have a bloke in a Championship dressing room on £150k a week.

That's my thinking. At Champ level - he would be an absolute asset.

Injury situ not great and as for wages, suspect something can be done with City in that regard.

I think KM thinks a lot of him and there were glimpses last year of the player he was.

He is incapable of getting fit.

I was merely wondering whether it might be on our radar as an option.

As I say, KM seemed to think a lot of him and KP seemed to enjoy his time with us. He's a known quantity. Injury situ aside, at this level, would be a big asset.

I would be surprised if this hasn't been considered internally.

No argument from me that this has been an issue for him.

I'd be amazed if we went that route again. It was an expensive failure last season.

We only got 14 starts and 5 sub appearances from him, and he delivered very little in those appearances.

“Injury situ aside ...”

Trouble is it’s not an aside, it’s front, back and central with him.

No point in signing great players if they’re incessantly in the treatment room, and taking up squad places.

City will be looking to sell, if they can. Phillips needs to make a complete break from them, but I'm unsure who could take him - commercially a hard one for everyone involved.

I wonder where he does end up, feels unlikely a PL side go in for him - so it's either abroad or the Championship. If he was cheap I'd take him back, seemed to fit in well here at least - but he won't be cheap and obviously huge question marks over fitness

I wondered if he might fancy a bit of american sun, seems an ideal fit for a miami or something like that

Don't think he's got the name anymore for a saudi club, but american is probably more suited

a niche perspective
