Meat is meat isn’t it? on 11:10 - Jul 22 with 2130 views | NthQldITFC | I don't know much about Halal, but I think the basic principle is that the animal is treated better than non-Halal meat. How anyone can have a problem with that, I have absolutely no idea.

His bio says about 'free markets' whilst ignoring the fact that [if true] Ipswich are electing to buy halal meat from the free market as works better for them as a business.

"Sikhs are not permitted to eat any religious slaughter" and so he's right that it should be advertised as such. Oh, a meat pun? Er. So he has beef with itfc. Will that do?

Meat is meat isn’t it? on 11:24 - Jul 22 with 1873 views | KrakenBlue | Watching a non-stunned cow get strung up while bleeding out is a truly grim sight. It's a cruel process for such a large animal, but I don't expect David Atherton is really that fussed about animal welfare. The only slight silver lining is that most halal meat is stunned so that partially reduces the suffering. [Post edited 22 Jul 11:26]

Meat is meat isn’t it? on 11:26 - Jul 22 with 1822 views | BlueBadger | Literally the only difference between ritual and non-ritual slaughter is that some bloke says a prayer before the animal gets its throat cut. This bloke has no interest in animal welfare, it's a figleaf to hide his bigotry behind.

That's an interesting read - I hadn't realised that stunning for Halal was permissible, or that the rates of stunning were so high.

You are correct. You don't know much about Halal. The animals are slaughtered without being stunned (which is UK law) and bleed to death through having their throats cut. That alone is certainly not "treating the animal better" As noted by others the practice also means that other religious groups are excluded from eating the meat. IF the story is correct and the club is not telling people that the offering is "Halal" then they are entirely in the wrong and need to comment on the story ASAP to explain their thinking or debunk it.

Kosher/Shechita meat is usually labelled as such. Surely the issue here is whether people (particularly those that cannot eat it) are told that it is Halal. This story isn't about Kosher food, if it was being served at the club without people knowing then the issue would be the same.

I am not sure the sausages are slaughtered in a halal way.

As the RSPCA article states - 88% of Halal-slaughtered animals are stunned beforehand, compared to 0% of Kosher-slaughtered animals. Maybe you'd better turn your focus to Kosher meat, given that it is so much more barbaric?

The club aren't serving Kosher meat (if they are in this case) if they were then that would be the story, and it would need to be addressed. Not sure why you are bringing that into it.
