He's just followed Burnley on Instagram so looks like that dream is over!

Yeah and with Tuanzebe there it’s not an alien environment at all. Quite understandable if he chooses them over us for multiple reasons really.

Off to Burnley for a relegation fight. Perhaps we could buy him back next season if we swap places

I do wonder if his ability warrants so much debate on if he's signing for us or not.

We’ll do well to get anyone as good in the Championship. Miracles could happen though I suppose.

Have to say I didn't see his performances last season warranting us making a really big effort to get him back. He wasn't great off the ball or at tracking his man, couldn't cope with covering our left side, and wasn't providing any assists offensively. I'm sure in the championship, he'd be a different level, but question marks on his durability and longer-term contribution mean I think it is good we go another direction.

Today would be a good day to announce Downes.

Today would be a good day to announce a quality signing without doubt.

The natives are getting restless and in 14 days …… we’re off and running

Think I’d be happy with at least another CM signing for now and can wait for the right forward player to help Hirst. Central Midfield right now is starting to worry me

I must admit CM is starting to worry me too, we have a fairly tough start to the season to contend with. I know it means nothing if we don't have the best of starts. Burnley's start wasn't exactly storming last year, and look how that ended for them. Still, our midfield is looking - by far - our weakest area, if we have an injury or 2 in the lead-up to the opening games, we could be fielding players that at the end of last season we probably imagined wouldn't even be here at this point.

Hopefully, we'll sign a couple more CMs in the next couple of weeks. It's such an important position, and we could really do without having to gel our new midfielders "on the hoof".

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve been quite laid back so far but things are starting to get a little worrying now. I get there’s still 14 days left before thr start of the campaign but it would’ve been nice to have a few weeks for someone new to get bedded in so to speak

Things really need to start and get a wriggle on I reckon

No thanks, pretty but ineffective and no way his knees could manage a 46 game season

I just don't see that another quality* CM signing can't be very very close to allow Morsy to go. No matter how much how he has done, and it is a lot, we must have said to Sam we won't get in your way until we have suitable cover through the door. Azor is not enough to replace Morsy, Cajuste, Mass and Phillips.

If this isn't the case I am sure it will leave KMc very uncomfortable and MA will know he further risks losing KMc if we aren't giving KMc the tools for the best chance of promotion. This is aside from the targets KMc had whilst we still had Morsy!!

Hopefully this will all become clearer within days we have a signing or 2 in the door in the next few days.

* obviously the fans will be the judge of quality not KMc

I truly hope he gets signed soon, either by Burnley or whoever, so we can put this to bed.
Apparently, we've moved on and our recruitment team are poring over the printouts from the mainframe looking for CMs ...

I’d be delighted to see Downes back. He’d really flourish under KM imo. I can’t see it though sadly, but do agree we could do with a quality CM addition soon to settle in time for the start. And to settle us fans as well. People will be getting twitchy soon.

Ashton said after relegation that the club were already in talks with players so it’s disappointing and slightly worrying that we aren’t far from the new season starting and we’ve not signed another striker or central midfielder (or two of each). I’d like to see a target man signed so we can mix it up and go long if we have to. I know it’s a change of tactics for KM but we need a plan b and last season we didn’t have one. A tall target man would worry centre halves and hold the ball up for the likes of Szmodics, philogene etc to follow up/join in and score goals :)

It would be nice to have more bodies through the door at this point but I don’t know what fans were expecting MA and KM to say.

IIRC it was more around knowing what targets they could start those conversations with because we knew we’d be a championship club. That doesn’t mean we would sign players any quicker.

The position we’re in, we’re going to be going for players who are top level Champ / lower Prem who will be hoping to get a premier league move (see Cajuste, Hackney etc). Realistically our only chance of getting these players is if Prem moves don’t materialise, which all takes time.

Some of those players will be loanees currently involved in Premiership preseasons. I expect the loan market will spring to life when Premiership teams start announcing squads.

As bookies favourites, the McKenna factor and sucess stories of Delap, Hutchinson, Davis etc, we're likely to pick up some real quality in this market.

The team that is working on signings won't be in Aberdeen. There has been no sniff of a signing happening, but the fact that the first team is in Scotland will not reduce the chance of a signing happening.
