I like him as a person,
He has a little about him,
That penalty got my goat big time,
If he's injury free il give him a chance as our third striker he does put himself about a bit,
He has two or three games to show something,
Obviously no good at all to us if he goes up but could save us a few quid, he can always go in January if he doesn't improve,

He looked good in that friendly last weekend but I think he needs another loan spell

Don't you love it when these drippy little sad sacks use their initials at the end of a post to have a pop at Stokie.

Know they've had their pants pulled down and throw it out as one last pitiful flail.

it does seem appropriate given the post though; my kids were still at the bed wetting stage when they started watching CBBs!

We've been down since February, its now 14 days until our first game and we are extremely light in arguably the two most important areas of the pitch, CM & ST. Yes theres still the whole of August to do business but there are crucial points to be picked up against very tough opponents.

exactly, the best player may well only become available when the prem dominoes fall into place, that could be 31st august (or whenever the window slams shut)

Worth noting that there is an international break at end of August, so 2 weeks until next game Sept 12th . . . although if we are aiming for a certain level of player, they will be on international duty!!

I'm wondering who a championship club has signed that people would genuinely have wanted us to get?

It's one of those situations where someone that signs for a club not called Ipswich Town suddenly gets elevated to world class!

I think the only one who I think could have done a job was the lad Doyle who has gone to Birmingham from Wolves.

Sorry never been on the site before, wouldn’t have dared to reply to Stokie if I knew I’d have had to deal with his guard dogs as well! Please forgive this first offence, I will learn from it

Feel 95% confident it's all in hand behind the scenes......but 5% of doubt niggling away given Ashton saying he's prioritising retention yet for one reason or another - some admittedly unavoidable - we've lost our best striker, our best defender and our best midfielder and probably about to lose Hutch too; and because of the Brett J statement about realising £100m of value from player sales which has not been satisfactorily explained to my mind. Still thinking it'll all be fine and we'll see some stellar acquisitions before too long and hopefully in time for us to get off to a strong start.

Presumably, the main reason you're no longer wetting the bed is because you've got up, gone to work and pissed your pants in the office instead?

We've also got to bear in mind the amount of replacements that were needed for key backroom staff who left - see today's appointments. Hopefully now we'll get back to the squad on the pitch.

Seeing Omari return to training with the group and Brentford's interest cool would go alongway to increasing people's confidence.

Think the club have to dig in, a little bit like Leed's did, and see the bigger picture.

110m in television money far outweights selling off our best asset and the best player in this division for staggered payments of 35-40m.

He hasn't returned to the group

Signings will happen. Just like everyone else with promotion aspirations (Leicester, Southampton, Boro, Cov etc) the top players for champ level require movement further up the food chain.

Absolutely nothing to do with pulling fingers out, it's about holding nerve and not signing sub standard players because you can.

We will have a good side to put out even if new signings aren't up to speed. It's a long 46 game season.

Hold your nerve!!!

Form over the last 15 matches.... by Marshalls_Mullet 18 May 16:39
Is worse than Leicester, and the same as Southampton.

Our defence is worse than both over that period.

Oh dear.

I would suggest you take your own advice as well in that case

Sure, and we can make signings in January too, and indeed next season. But we have league games coming up in a couple of weeks, and I think the OP's point is that he'd rather like to have players to play in the matches that we have to play.

I'm not worried, as none of us knows what's going on behind the scenes.

We shouldn't be so obsessed with transfers that they become the tail that wags the dog of football.

But by the same token, that also means viewing actual football matches as more important than transfer deadlines. And we need players for the football matches rather than for the deadline. Four league matches in August, and the first two don't look too easy to me.

Worth noting that when we got promoted from League 1 to Champ, we had only signed Taylor, Hirst and a very raw Hutchinson when we played our first game at Sunderland. Williams only joined in late August and Tuanzebe was yet to join and injured anyway.

We did ok.

I'd be worried if we didn't have decent enough players for the games in August.

But we do.

We have a stronger squad now.

And people seem to have forgotten that the biggest coup Ashton has had this summer is keeping McKenna, so this "pull your finger out" stuff is a bit grating. He's also had the Fabio match and the three Sheeran shows so as a CEO he's hardly been sitting there scraping fluff out of his bellybutton.

I'd really like to have our central midfield pair at least in the building before the first game of the season. It's such a key area, and it's an area from which we've lost our beating heart, and four personnel in total (Morsy, Phillips, Cajuste, Luongo).

Also KMc requires a lot of his strikers, and requires them to play in a particular way. I'm less bothered about when any striker comes in than /whether/ one comes in, as I'm not convinced by AAH, but again ideally we'd have time with him before the season kicks off. You do often hear "we didn't really have a pre-season with him", as though that's a bad thing (which surely it is), and it would be good to avoid that.

But hey, I'm sure it's really hard in the transfer market, and KMc has given us no reason to doubt him. Also it is evident that the club is casting its net wider, so it's clearly been on the case under the surface for some time.

We do. It would be nice to get that midfield sorted asap though to give them a chance to bed in a bit before the season starts. Other positions can wait as we’ve got cover. It does tend to go like this though. Normally one or two in quickly and then a bit of a waiting game.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

The players we've lost have mainly been ones naturally coming towards the end of their time here apart from Delap and Tuanzebe. Possibly Burgess. We've brought players in and I imagine there will still be more in. We still have a better squad than when we were last in the Championship.

That's not to say that we don't need another striker, I think we do, but most of our signings go under the radar until right before we sign them. And we still have Hirst and the leading scorer in the division from the season before last, which isn't a disastrous position to be in.

Don't think WCB was saying that I think he is suggesting we would all feel easier IF we saw Omari training with all the others.

Hopefully we will see that but probably won't mean any less that he wants to move on and will move on. If he is professional about the whole thing I think fans would be more supportive of his ambition to remain playing in the PL.

The inference the finger is not in is what gets me. How do you know LW and MA are not doing all they can to make signings. Maybe they are very close, maybe someone is done but we are letting the whole Morsy thing calm. YOU just don't know.

If we had wanted players like Schlupp I am sure we could have got him. We could have re-signed Mass, but we are aiming higher, listen to what MA has said about the type of player we want and if takes time.

You are still very much in bed wetting territory I am afraid.

Exactly, people are putting their own deadlines on transfers and then getting annoyed when the club doesn't match them. If it's in your head, you can't blame Ashton.
