given how injury prone George Hirst is. Ali Al Hamadi is OK coming on as a finisher during games but I wouldn't want to rely on him as a starter for any length of time if Hirst was injured.

Szmodics and Broadhead could fill in up front, but given Hirst's injury record I'd definitely want another proper forward to share the burden with George Hirst.

This is your cue to tell me not to worry and we are sniffing round striker x.

We definitely need another striker, but don't worry, I've heard whispers that Isak might be leaving Newcastle this summer.

I've assumed it's a given that we want another striker to replace Delap.

I'm also hoping this won't lead to late-window brinkmanship where we miss out on a striker for the fourth August in a row.

He isn’t that type of striker that we are looking for. We need another guy like Hirst who can hold the ball up. Is big and strong and can bring others into play. That’s not Sammys game. He needs to feed off Hirst and whoever we bring in.

Who’s not played an awful football since we signed him. Both Hirst and Szmodics you’d think will pick up an injury during the course of the season. We need more depth I feel than relying on AAH.

I think we'll find our system will change since we were last in the Championship, due to the improvement in the playing squad. We will probably be less reliant on a physical No.9 to hold the ball up and help us get up the pitch with the likes of Jaden, Clarke (and hopefully Hutch) all able to drive forward with the ball.

There are going to be more games where we come up against a low block, and I wouldn't be surprised if a player like Szmodics (or even Chappers) who can find space in the box and get shots off quickly end up being used as our No.9

Because he doesn't have any of the attributes that a number 9 in our system needs.

Worry not, I'm pretty confident the plan won't be to approach this season with Ali as 2nd in line.

I'd be very surprised if we're playing Chappers or Szmodics as a 9 this season in anything other than an emergency. There's a difference between our style evolving and us completely changing how we play. I can't see us going from playing an out and out number 9 who can work the channels and play with their back to goal to using a false 9 who is wanting to play in the same spaces as our other number 10s.

He's a great player, and he'd do a job there, but he's not the type of hold up / off the shoulder player we need up there to provide for our support forwards and cause opposition defenders to require new underwear at half time.

I saw a cartoon on Facebook where Isak told Howe he wanted to play with the Egyptian King.

Would be some signing for Kuwait SC!
