Sorry but I think this is inevitable. If someone wants to leave a football club or any other business, they are going. Trying to get them to stay when their minds made up is pointless.
Also it's either 7m now or a free transfer in a year's time on a bosman. All the best Nathan.

For me he's one of our best players and had he played more last year we might be discussing a new contract instead, think he was a bit undervalued last year and am sad to see him go.

That said I am sure a return to Wales and a move to Holywood Wrexham appeals and he'll be on a good whack. I really dont like Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds just seems like hes a terrible human being to me

Gutted. Not saying it’s not the right thing to do financially given his contract situation, 1 x Broadhead is about half the profit we would make on Omari even on a really good day, so if it’s a 1 or the other it’s hard to argue too much with Broady moving to pastures new. Seemingly not 1st or perhaps even 2nd choice we can’t say no to this sort of money.

What a signing for Wrexham though, an absolutely outstanding footballer. Keep him fit and they’ve got a gem of a championship player.

Agreed. You could probably generate the same accounting profit for PSR by selling Broadhead, Taylor and Johnson as you could Omari. 3 players that won't be first choice.

Hang about who has said he wants to leave?!

This is just business and bloody good business if ITFC get £7.5m for a squad player with a year on contract

Agree, we're losing more and more of that team spirit and winning mentality. Bizarre how desperate we've been to replace these players who got us to where we are. In all honesty, in a number of cases, the original group looked to fair better in the Premier League than the new recruits.

Feels like we've been trying to push Broadhead out for about a year which is disappointing as last season he proved he's still the best of the bunch playing in that left wing / no.10 role.

Not sure its been that desperate, Tuanzebe and Burgess were both offered new deals and for different reasons didn't take them. Harness isn't good enough and Luongo's time was up.

Its only really Broadhead and Morsy we're talking about. Morsy was a bit of an exceptional case and Broadheads is a regrettable loss for sure, he's absolutely class, but £7.5m for a player in the final year of his deal isn't money we can really turn down. £6m profit in real terms, £7m+ in PSR terms for this year. For a player who could walk away for nothing next summer and is seemingly behind 2 or 3 others in the pecking order.

For that sort of fee, you'd have to say we have a very good deal for a Championship player with 1 year left on his contract.

For Broadhead you can see the story now on "Welcome to Wrexham" - Welsh boy returns home to help the push for the Premier League.

Bit part player here this season, or front and centre at Wrexham as their biggest ever signing?

It's more that we've tried to replace those players which is what has caused the situation. We could have tied Burgess down to another contract this time last year, but we tried replacing him so he wanted to leave to play more football, imagine its the same with Broadhead and Morsy as the latter seemingly would have stayed with a new contract on the table. I imagine Chaplin is feeling similar at the minute as well as Burns, but his situation is a bit different with the injury.

It’s a great fee, especially as he’d probably leave on a free next summer.

Part of me thinks we couldn’t potentially be strengthening a rival though. It’ll be no surprise if Wrexham are up there come the end of the season.

I think their manager is their achilles heel for this season.

Flat track bullies in the Conference, L2 and L1, but the Championship is a very different ask and I think he'll be found wanting.

What is a good season for them this season? Lower/Mid-table? I can't see them getting anywhere near Top 6.

As you say you can see why it would appeal. Whatever you think of the whole Wrexham story its an opportunity to go in there as the main man, the marquee signing and be front and centre of that media circus and everything that comes with it. Especially ahead of a Wales potential world cup year, back close to where he's from in Bangor, and no doubt a lucrative contract and security vs. the 1 year he's got left here. I'd probably jump at it too.

I just hope we get something written into that deal which prevents him from playing against us this season because just know he'd be up for sticking one in the onion bag against us, twice!

Good luck Broady, I have no idea why you weren't played more. Such a good player on his day.

He started his career there as well before moving to Everton academy.

I imagine it'll make a good story on the TV.

I'm not sure we can dictate in which games Wrexham play their player. We're selling him, not loaning him.

But Burgess was always going to be replaced when we got to the Prem. I don't remember anyone saying before last season that he should be a nailed on starter in the top flight. And we can't give Broadhead and Morsy new deals just because they've been part of a double promotion. Morsy turns 34 soon, the club absolutely needed to seek a younger replacement for him going forward. Broadhead has been third or fourth choice in his position for some time now, would he even want to sign a new deal in those circumstances? It's easy to look back on last season and say "maybe we should have just stuck with the team that got us promoted" but they would also have got ripped apart and we'd be coming down with a weaker squad than the one we now have.

I think we had to replace them, we're better for it. Taking away the sentimentality they've generally all left down, not up. Harness to Huddersfield, Jackson to Derby, Morsy to a farmer league, Burgess to Swansea, Broadhead to Wrexham, Luongo to Millwall, Edmundson to Boro. Of the countless departures in the last 18 months Tuanzebe is the only one of our promotion squad to leave upwards, and that wasn't for a lack of trying on our part and certainly not a lack of game time or evidence we were looking to upgrade.

Its a shame in some respects, but what got us here won't get us there. Last time out at Championship level we rode the crest of a wave and defied the odds IMO. I don't believe on paper we had any right to do what we did. As much as the emotional connections might not be as strong now as those promotion heroes we've certainly got a significantly better squad today vs. 23/24.

Think loanees automatically can't play against their parent club, certainly in the league at least.

Great footballer but has always lack physicality and speed. He was benched a few times on the run in in our Championship promotion season and obviously only really started getting in the team last season once we were already down. Great feet and natural ability though, sad to see him go.

Dear oh dear. Criminal to let Broady go.

Coming in to the prime of his career, has delivered so many important goals, has danced and dazzled for us throughout his time, bows out with a truly wonderful goal v West Ham on the final day in the PL.

That's a rather one-sided take, and I say that as a Broadhead fan.

The problem is, his dancing and dazzling is streaky at best and inconsistent at worst. He's a joy to watch when he's on song, but he's a total passenger when he's not. His off-the-ball stuff has got better over time, but it's still not a patch on Philogene or even Clarke, who has already improved hugely from a pressing perspective.

He has a year left on his contract and may not want to sign a new one as a squad player/if Wrexham are willing to offer him more? So we would lose him for nothing next summer.

We have a chance to record a £7m accounting profit for PSR that may allow us to keep someone else (Omari?)

Think I was thinking of Europe. You can in the Champions League and randomly the League Cup here.

Not in the PL or FA Cup though. I know some were trying to get it changed in the lower leagues too.

I agree with much of that, but let’s not rewrite history:

“Broadhead has been third or fourth choice in his position for some time now”

23/24: 29 starts (8th highest outfielder), 13 goals (joint top)

24/25: Started the season injured, then after his first appearance at Forest, was an unused sub only 4 times in the rest of the season. Apart from a period injured, he started 7 of 21, with a further 10 appearances off the bench. That makes him at least 2nd choice in a position for much of the season.

I’d say he’s 3rd choice now - Philogene now fit, Szmodics has been playing R10 - and it’s a good deal to let him go etc etc etc, but I think that’s overstating it and downplaying his role to support a point.

Poll: So, how many league wins did you see in person?
