Superb player. Another sad departure. …and my autocorrect actually changed it to Broadband for once. Fitting.

Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 00:14 - Jul 30 with 5423 views | jasondozzell | Devastated if he goes. He was the one who grabbed things by scruff of neck when he arrived midway through that League one season. Brilliant feet. And so driven. Always loved how hard he celebrated goals from others. The venom on that shot when he scored against Cardiff...

Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 00:43 - Jul 30 with 5146 views | mutters | Sadly it feels like this is the right move for all parties. When he played last year he looked decent, so he shows that he can play at the higher level. Is he consistent enough both with form and fitness? Maybe not. With one year left on the contract and others who should in theory push ahead of him, it does seem like the right decision to move on. Plus the Welsh factor means it could be a great move for him on a personal level and also he's not going to be first choice (that's another debate) 7m ish allows us to buy say half of Hackney, which ultimately will serve us better than a player in Broadheads position. Heart might be panged a little if he goes, but overall it seems right.

Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 00:50 - Jul 30 with 5048 views | Garv | This one stings. Most have said "gutted as he's such a good player but it's a good fee". I'm inclined to flip it and say it's a good fee but he's a such a good player and such a mainstay in and around our team. After Delap and Hutchinson he looked more of a PL player than any of our other attackers last season. Burgess, Morsy, Tuanzebe, Luongo, Broadhead, (Hutchinson?) all leaving in one summer.

Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 06:17 - Jul 30 with 4446 views | PioneerBlue | I can’t add anything more than has been said. I’ve enjoyed watching Broadhead but it’s too often been reduced to cameo performances, I don’t know why exactly except he’s not always been fit and that’s forced other decisions to be made. I also don’t see him getting lots of minutes over Clarke, Jaden, Szmodics. He’s looked a + £10m player at times based on some performances and what else is being spent but £7.5m is too good in final year of deal. Thats real player trading in operation and it would put him up there with our most valuable sales from the Champ.

I don’t think in the context of player value inflation £7m for a 27 year old who is that good is excessive. In fact, for Wrexham in their circumstances it’s a very good deal. However, it’s the last year of his contract and the player is unlikely to be first choice, it’s probably the right move for all. I’d still prefer him to stay. He’s a top end Championship player.
Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 06:52 - Jul 30 with 4096 views | Horsham | Lovely lovely player but this is good business for Town. Putting the about £7m FFP:PSR profit in the books for this season on this deal. Must be not far short of the Delap profit and just a year left on his contract.
Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 07:09 - Jul 30 with 3910 views | RobTheMonk | Didn't we pay somewhere along the lines of 1.5 million for him? Helped get us promoted, and looking like being sold on for much more than we bought him for plus the added funds that come from being in the Prem (which he directly contributed to). Last year of contract. Seems as good a time as any to sell him on to be honest. I think he's an excellent player at this level, but that this offer is fair value.
Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 07:10 - Jul 30 with 3853 views | Wallingford_Boy | Definitely best all round. Great player, but clearly not near the starting xi and final year of his contract. £7.5m is a great fee. Thanks for everything Broadie.

Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 07:31 - Jul 30 with 3655 views | _clive_baker_ | Gutted. Not saying it’s not the right thing to do financially given his contract situation, 1 x Broadhead is about half the profit we would make on Omari even on a really good day, so if it’s a 1 or the other it’s hard to argue too much with Broady moving to pastures new. Seemingly not 1st or perhaps even 2nd choice we can’t say no to this sort of money. What a signing for Wrexham though, an absolutely outstanding footballer. Keep him fit and they’ve got a gem of a championship player.
Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 07:39 - Jul 30 with 3531 views | Ftnfwest | top player and will be sad to see him go but the business is good and maybe something that keeps Omari here in an overall more balanced forward line.
Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 07:46 - Jul 30 with 3435 views | itfc48 | Wonderful player to watch however it sounds like he would be extremely unlikely to sign a new contract given his game time along with what went down on deadline day last summer. It’s a good move for him back home and I imagine he’s getting a decent pay rise as well. Club have got a decent fee given his contract status so a deal that works all-round.

If we want promotion keeping Hutchinson over Broadhead is much more beneficial the money can be spent in areas that we need upgrades No time to be sentimental.

That’s probably true. Plus Omari would likely be worth the same next summer, Broadhead would walk away for nothing.
Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 08:05 - Jul 30 with 3182 views | SWLondonBlue93 | Like many have already said, would be sad to see him go, but this looks like a sensible deal for all parties. Especially from the player's perspective - only one year left on his current deal, and realistically looking at another season on the bench if he were to stay. I rate him highly but he seems to be behind both Philogene and Clarke.
Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 08:07 - Jul 30 with 3144 views | Herbivore | Real heart and head one, this. Heart is heavy to see him go, he gave us such a lift when he joined in League 1 and along with Luongo felt like missing pieces of the jigsaw that allowed us to click and become a very good side. He was excellent in spells in the Championship too but started to show some of that streakiness and some of the fitness issues that have dogged his career. A couple of good performances in the Prem but also lots of times he went missing (not alone there) and just didn't play anywhere near enough. Whether that was fitness or just preferring others, those issues are going to limit his match time this season too. £7.5m feels like BIG money for a player in the last year of his contract with the aforementioned fitness and form issues so no way can we turn it down when we've got Philogene, Clarke, and Szmodics already vying for his role. If Wrexham can keep him fit and firing for 46 games they'll have a good season, but that's easier said than done. Will be interesting to see how he gets on as the main man there, suspect he'll be their marquee signing, or one of them at least. Wish him all the best, apart from when he plays us. Thanks for the mems, Broady. You've given us plenty of them and you'll always be able to call PR home.

It’s a great fee, especially as he’d probably leave on a free next summer. Part of me thinks we couldn’t potentially be strengthening a rival though. It’ll be no surprise if Wrexham are up there come the end of the season.

Absolutely no doubt it’s strengthening Wrexham, whether they’re a rival or not we’ll have to wait and see I guess. Fairly unavoidable though I guess, we have to sell him where the interest is and I can’t imagine there’s any from the premier league.
Wrexham closing in on Broadhead on 08:20 - Jul 30 with 2977 views | bobbyramsey | He could've moved on for free next summer so £7m sounds good to me. He obviously wasn't in KM's plans.

Agree, we're losing more and more of that team spirit and winning mentality. Bizarre how desperate we've been to replace these players who got us to where we are. In all honesty, in a number of cases, the original group looked to fair better in the Premier League than the new recruits. Feels like we've been trying to push Broadhead out for about a year which is disappointing as last season he proved he's still the best of the bunch playing in that left wing / no.10 role.
