Right, and in an ideal world you would have five senior CMs this season. But with three keepers, nine defenders and a lot of attacking midfielders, I can't make the math work, unless perhaps our third striker (when they sign) is an under-21. Button, Muric, Palmer (Slicker loaned out; Walton sold) - 3
Davis, Greaves, Johnson, Kipre, O'Shea, Townsend, Woolfenden, Young (H Clarke loaned out or sold) - 8
Cajuste, Hackney, Humphreys, Matusiwa, Taylor - 5
Chaplin, J Clarke, Hutchinson, Ogbene, Philogene, Szmodics - 6 (Burns and Broadhead sold)
Al Hamidi, Hirst, Kone - 3
There may be some changes to the names - for example, we may sell Woolfenden and sign a replacement, or we may keep Burns and move someone else on instead - but that will be the basic idea. | |

i'm sure we're not going into the season with 3 central midfielders. I fear if Humphreys goes out on loan again, he will we sold, he must be ready for the Championship now surely, stepping in when Cajuste needs a rest against Millwall or Preston at home. (if that's who we were to sign).
I think we also need 1 club home grown player, i don't know if Harry Clarke counts. Forgot of course we have Woolfenden. [Post edited 1 Aug 9:59]

does Hutchinson count as under 21? It's always difficult to know when Delap is playing for the England under 21s at 22 years old, yet Hutchinson is only 21 and i fear doesn't count. [Post edited 1 Aug 9:54]

McKenna likes to have 8 players for the 3 behind the striker so can't see that being the make up of the squad. He might have to trim that down to 7, but can't see it being as few as 6. Think we'll go with 4 CMs and that feels right. We had 5 last season but Luongo barely played any minutes, despite Phillips and Cajuste having injury issues. |  |

cant remember exactly, but it's something like,
Under 21 at the start of the calendar year that the season starts in.
I think the load rules are also stricter this year, all loans count towards 25 regardless of age?
