Maybe Hayden didn’t like the training ground.

How long till someone says:

“But if he really wanted to sign for us, why didn’t he sign at the end of last season? If he doesn’t want to play for us, move on.”

Poll: So, how many league wins did you see in person?

I confess, I thought we'd explored this with Napoli and Jens already.

PLEASE get both Jens and Hackney, could be looking at the best midfield in the championship by a long way.

If (and it's a BIG if) we do end up getting Hackney and Cajuste, it's definitely up there with the best midfield in Championship history.

It will be similar to the Hackney situation, no doubt. Jens is probably stringing it out in the hope that an offer comes in from a top European League. It's not forthcoming so far, and Napoli probably want it sorted one way or another to clarify their squad/finances out in good time before the end of the window...

...all this is assuming is not a load of bow-locks, of course!

I've been positive about us getting Hackney, but the timing of this would surely suggest an 'instead of' as opposed to an ' in addition to' surely?
We have Taylor & Humphreys who can both play the Luongo/Cajuste role, so if we are signing Hackney, this is not a key role to add further to. Whereas we have no backup for Matusiwa, if he were to get injured; with Morsy (and Phillips) gone, we are short on proper defensive midfielders.
I very much hope I'm wrong, as the Matusiwa & Hackney partnership looks really strong & would be well gelled ahead of the PL, if we are to go straight back up.

We will have.

Almost certain to be like Hackney, isn't it? We've had this kind of deal in the offing for Napoli for weeks/months, but Cajuste's agent has been trying to flush out serious PL interest.

He *did* tell some of the Town lads early last week that he was signing for Burnley, so something's changed there in the last 10 days.

Need 2 midfielders regardless, would Hackney fit in the structure in the advanced role 10?

It’s hard to look past a pairing of Matusiwa and Cajuste - that is a frightening partnership.

This just makes no sense. If we wanted him then why wait this long to make an offer and for a weeks now we’ve been told he doesn’t want to play in the championship!?

Pretty sure we've made offers before now.

Maybe we put in offers that weren't in par with what napoli wanted. Or maybe cajuste couldn't get the prem nove he wanted and his agent has now told us he would be happy to come back so nows the time to match the Saudi bid.

We will be looking for better depth than Taylor & Humphreys.

I wouldn’t rule out another CM joining even after Cajuste and Hackney. A possible loan for a Prem youngster and we then move on one of Taylor or Humphreys.

This, I'd imagine. We've kept good relations and conversation with Jens, for various reasons the other transfers to clubs in higher leagues didn't work, he still wants to come here and presumably contact etc is all discussed long ago, so now we've been told by Jens' agent that he'd love to come back to get us up, so we pressed the big red "sign him up" button again.

Looks like Hackney may have manoeuvred himself into a corner.

Boro saying he has to choose between them and Town suggests they don’t envisage any Premier League offers. Now he knows we have a potential alternative. Surely the timing is not a coincidence with him presumably currently in Ipswich.

His agent probably thought better offers would arrive, but when he spoke with other clubs maybe the offers weren't as good as ours. The Saudis I'm sure offered more cash, but when he got there and realised the lack of available alcohol, he probably changed his mind*

I'm purely basing that on the rumour when he arrived for his Brentford chat/medical (before he joined us) he had enjoyed the pubs in London a bit too much the night before.
