Now, what do we do…. 09:02 - Aug 5 with 5681 viewsdanchances22

If omari is still here come Friday and no transfer is imminent does he play a part in the team on Friday at Birmingham? He is still contracted here and the club pay his wages so he has no right to refuse to play. He offers something special and can be a game changer if needed Friday night. Forget about his little tantrum last weekend if he isn’t sold this summer then what do we do with him? I’m not sure his really worthy of being a little arrogant thinking he’s a premier league player he was fairly poor in most games last season so I’m not sure why he’s trying to push himself out the club.

Just a thought though he still has to feature at some point on Friday if he’s still here. What are your lots thoughts?

I think he will be on the bench on Friday.

He will almost certainly play some part from the bench. Still no second bid and the first was almost three weeks ago.

You can sit out pre-season but you start to lose the respect of everyone at the club if you do the same for league games.

Am sure we will hear more from KM tomorrow.

if you look at what happened with szmodics, he came on as a sub for blackburn despite playing no part in pre-season.

he scored too; i'd take that!

Of course he'll play (unless a transfer is actually in motion) and I expect he'll be entirely happy to.

Once again a young black Ipswich player is accused of being arrogant.

The longer it rumbles on the higher the chance he stays. I suspect he will play a part on Friday, which may trigger a club to bid the amount to trigger a transfer

The reality is that we don't have to sell, though the money would be useful. Depends on how the manager and players relationship is. Omari may want a move but he also respects McKenna.

I have a hunch, based on nothing but pure optimism, that he will still be here when the window shuts

There has been a massive overreaction to him sitting out of a pre season game.

If he is here for competitive games and he sits out that is a much bigger deal. I think he will be on the bench.

I have no issues with him not being involved in a pre season, injuries can happen which would be no benefit to us, the player, or prospective clubs.

When the league starts, if he's here (looks likely), he's involved. If a deal materialises beyond that so be it.

I imagine he'll be on the bench, I don't see him ruling himself out of a competitive fixture but I also don't see McKenna restoring him straight to the starting XI after Auxerre, and that's fair enough on all parties.

Absolute worst case he has to be on the bench. If McKenna thinks he's physically ready (which he can't be far off having played for England most of the summer) then I think he has to start with Philogene out. Give us 60 minutes - go and win us the game son.

Not sure I agree with the "fairly poor" part but I guess we are in for another season of nuance dying a death and most things that aren't brilliant automatically becoming "poor".

But I'd hope he can be involved, the kid himself isn't a troublemaker and he'll have been very much acting to instruction from a not entirely pleasant agent. At some point he needs to get some more playing time for his own sake too.

What tantrum? McKenna didn't say he refused to play, but that he was left out - of a pre-season friendly, requiring travel to France.

At the age of only 21, he's had an intense promotion season, followed by an extremely intense and ultimately unsuccessful Prem season, then a top-level international Youth competition, which they won just 38 days ago, plus a load of upheaval over his future on top (leaving Chelsea for Ipswich, then possible moves on from there after a single year). Perhaps he's just mentally tired, maybe still physically so.

These are human beings, still quite young, not characters in a game or film.

Now I haven’t read all the threads on Omari BUT where on earth does the colour of the boys skin come into it?
As for playing he is a professional footballer contracted to ITFC so his obligation is to play if picked!

As others have mentioned, Broadhead missed the previous friendly amidst transfer speculation and didn't get anything like the same response.

He is our best player, he is probably on his way but he may not go until Sept 1st, we play him every minute in every game we can

Nobody seemed to take issue with Szmodics when he refused to train with Blackburn's first team either last season. We all still wanted him here.

I think it's poor that fans are turning on him when he has given us his all for the last two seasons.

If he does or doesn't play it will all be in agreement with McKenna. Nobody from the club has said he has ever refused to play and I don't believe that would be the case.

I’d hope we’d start our best player unless something is truly imminent with Brentford. Would be madness not to, and would basically be telling Brentford he’s theirs, at a point in negotiations where there’s probably a bit of a stand off.
