Potential transfer dealings 10:11 - Aug 10 with 2711 viewsbluesbrothers

So we know we’re interested in:
Akpom (still seems likely he’ll end up here but growing noises that may not)
Hackney (would seem more unlikely than likely that he’ll end up here)
The Spanish lad from como (seems unlikely)

And we know the following are likely to leave:
Hutchinson (seems v likely)
Broadhead (seems v likely but tied to people joining)

That leaves us needing a LB, CM (or two), AMR (potentially 2 across that line?!) and a ST

What have I missed? Any other rumours out there? There’s still so much that needs doing

I would guess one or two of those will be young loanees from the Prem in the last week of the transfer window.

I think we may need money in to make anymore purchases. I think we are getting close to limits.

Just a personal feeling on what has happened so far in the transfer market.

How can that be true with parachute payments, the Delap sale, and a failed attempt to get HH for circa £15m

Rak-Sakyi has got to be earmarked for flanks.

Feel like we were linked with Matt Targett the Newcastle LB at some point also, wonder with Townsend out whether we look at him. Noticed Regulion is without a club at present, not sure if Kieran ever worked with him via Spurs or United?

There is something wrong with our dealings in the transfer market. Have thought this for a while now, everything seems to descend into a farce or an inflated price hike. Or nothing happens at all ( ie. As it now appears to be ) time running out fast now.

There's 3 weeks left in the transfer window. We're just coming into the phase of the window where a lot of business gets done. Most clubs will still have a lot of trading to do.

Or maybe town have got really good at plugging the leaks so in reality we know almost nothing about what’s happening behind the scenes, and instead listen to wild rumours from “ITK” people on Twitter. Then when those rumours don’t pan out, people assume that we’ve tried and failed to get a deal done. Every successful deal we’ve made so far has come with almost no warning, and there has been no confirmation whatsoever that the “failed” deals were ever even real. The only failed one that seems to be real is Hackney, and we don’t even really know the details of that - could very well be that Boro accepted our offer but nothing further happened. As far as I know, the whole “private flight, tour of the ground, person details and medical done” news was based off someone finding a private jet flight from the midlands to Stansted. Could well be that HH has accepted us in theory, but is (very reasonably) waiting to see if a prem club wants to come in first before signing the deal.

This all to say - we’ve been superb in the transfer market since the takeover. We’d all love to know more, but when info leaks out early then transfer fees tend to go up and things get messy. I personally really like how we’re going about it and I trust that they know what they’re doing. Let’s wait until the end of the window and then judge.

Reguilon makes Jack Clarke look like Kevin Beattie. Absolute hologram of a player.

We obvs need an oven-ready reserve LB. Townsend was perfect, given his age & career profile. We must be running out of ex-West Brom players now though.

It is interesting how many Prem players have gone out on loan without any link to us, many to Championship clubs. 2 years ago, we'd have been in that market (eg Will Lankshear, Mikey Moore), but we're now fishing in a different pond.

Eh? We've been brilliant in the windows for the last 3 years. We have one tricky window and suddenly something wrong. It's just hard to buy top level talent in the champ now. That is it. Nothing more. Always more likely to fall in to place end of window when players can't get that Prem move or when Prem team get their players which frees a player up to move etc (exactly like Wrexham can't have Broady yet).

We have our sights set on players with ambition to play in Premier League.

Only once they realise a bid isn’t coming in this window will they jump at offers from us. Even then they will no doubt want a no promotion release clause. Such negotiations take time.we have three weeks still.

The only fear is players come in too late and we end up with more than 25 players available for our squad.

The season started this weekend, you should be preparing your squad for the start of the season. Additions now are going to be on catch up, with no pre season with us.

To be heading into the opening weekend of the season, in a big away fixture, with only Humphreys and Barbrook as your deputy CDM, with Al-Hamadi as your deputy striker and emergency RM, is really really poor.

I think the additions of Young, Matusiwa, Cajuste are really good, but business has been slow, and I think it would be fair to say things have been far from perfect this summer.

Every club still has business to do, we aren't alone in that. Of course we'd have loved to have all our business done before the first game but that's just not remotely realistic if we want to secure decent players. I'd rather we get the right players in than sign any old sh!te just to get our business done.

I’m sorry but we were poor in the transfer market last season as well. We didn’t appear to have a decent recruitment policy for the PL so panic bought players we had played against in the championship with the hope they could step up. Hutchinson and Delap aside, some of the others have looked over valued and not up to the rigors of the PL. Some don’t look PL quality at all.

We should look at players in other markets. We have shown recently you can get a good quality player from abroad for a lot less than a young player from the PL or championship who command over inflated fees.

If Broadhead, Davis, and Hutchinson want to leave them let them go for a good fee and use the money elsewhere. For me Taylor, Muric, Johnson and AAH can either leave on loan or permanently

We can’t keep on recruiting average championship players on big wages. We need quality and physicality in the squad. Characters that are physically and mentally capable of getting to the PL and staying there.
