I think we can struggle through with Young and Johnson on the right, but a left back is a must.
A CM, preferably a "number 8" that can carry the ball, and let Humphreys go. But if we don't get a LB I can see him staying as cover (which is weird).
Obviously a CF to challenge (ideally be better than) Hirst.
Plus replace anyone else that leaves with like for like.

Don't think we'll sign a RB. Young will imo stake his claim to that place, Johnson as back up, although I see a situation where Johnson plays in the right of the front 3 (worryingly).
CM. Absolutely. I don't think Hackney will be on the list now with Cajuste in the door, but someone who can do Matusiwa's job is essential. I think we'll see a loan there.
RW. I honestly think we'll 'make do' in that position. We'll settle with Philogene, although I think is better on the left, Ogbene (who needs game time) and as mentioned, Johnson if needed, with Burns to return at somepoint (at what level is to be determined, but hopefully he'll be fit) means we do have cover there.
The 10. This is the difficult one imo. Chaplin is suited to this imo, most natural position for him, seems as though Szmodics is preferred to him there currently, but I'd prefer him on the left of the 3 with Clarke as the two LWs. I think the long term plan was probably to transition Omari into that position, but that's out the window. We need someone who can link the play better than Chaplin though, he's much better in the box, but let's be honest, Enciso is the real type of player you want there to open things up. No idea who we target and not sure that's the Hackney position either.
ST. I'm not sure. The more I see of Akpom, the more I think he's the striker challenging Hirst. He can hold the ball up, but doesn't seem to be the creative type. Therefore I think Hirst, Akpom + Ali.

We need two new CMs in my opinion.
Matusiwa will start whatever happens. Apart from him we have:
Cajuste (great player, but hasn't had a preseason and isn't ready yet, plus question marks over whether he'll make it through a whole season)
Taylor (not good enough)
Humphreys (probably good enough to be a backup, but needs another loan really)
Barbrook (not ready, loan)
We need two more to compete with/cover for Matusiwa and Cajuste. And preferably one of them should be the kind of sh1thouser that you need in the Championship, and which we no longer have now Morsy's gone. |  | | |

I'd like to think we have enough cover for Omari. I'd play Clark on the right, Philogene left. But Jaden looks fragile so we will need cover especially if Broadhead goes. Right back, surely Young will cement his place there, it's why he was bought in. Need another midfielder, if Humphries is not seen as up to it (I think he is). Taylor is better further up field, maybe a backup no. 10. So still plenty of work to be done methinks. |  |

Keeper needs to change however I think it’s a difficult one to do right now given the fact we need a keeper who is going to be £20m plus should we go up again.
I think it becomes number 1 priority when we go up, I just can’t see us splashing £20m on a keeper right now. [Post edited 11 Aug 13:18]
