Hutchinson and Isak on 00:12 - Aug 13 with 1555 views | darkhorse28 | Don’t buy the deflection, he’s young, he probably has had some bad advice…, and the relationship with our management group, clearly not as good as we assumed. But he is only a kid. That’s not 0.1% part of our problems. He isn’t as key to us as Isak .., very talented, but didn’t play back to back league games until February in our promotion season. Great prospect…, but he’s a convenient scapegoat - and throwing a young lad under the bus like the manager and club have, is really poor!!! Broadhead also didn’t want to play, and the club reported that as illness, why they simply both aren’t ‘unavailable’ god only knows. I guess hammering a 21 year old kid, is easier then looking in the mirror, when you lost to a fourth division reserve side, with a £130 million squad. McKennas man management isn’t great at times, you can lose a squad treating people like this …, he’s a kid.

Hutchinson and Isak on 02:23 - Aug 13 with 1338 views | Mercian | He has signed a new contract with a release clause. We do not have to sell unless that is met. If he is sent to the under 23s his England under 21 career will be over yet alone a potential full career. We can just leave our jobs if we want as can Omari but if our job includes a contract we can be prevented from working elsewhere in the same field. The ball is in his court. [Post edited 13 Aug 2:26]

The release clause is a thing of history. We're now looking for north of £35m.

This is why this whole wont play thing annoys me more. He had a month and a half where he could leave for £35M and you had just the one club interested who wouldn't pay it. Then it expired and the next bid was still at £35M. It's insulting and only designed to unsettle the player. The agent must be advising a bid at that level. I think the same of West Ham's recent £30M bid for Fernandes. That isn't a serious offer, it's just to unsettle the player and drive down the price

On Broadhead, I think the subtle difference is probably that we chose not to play him and risk an injury that scuppers a sale that we want to happen

I think your not a town fan but I will respond anyway. If he is that desperate to play for another club, his agent could offer a lower salary to sweeten the deal. But that will never happen. Players expect the club to lower their asking price but expect to maximise their own personal position despite being happy to sign an enhanced deal only recently.

Szmodics played in Blackburn's professional games. I'd say that's a fairly clear difference. I don't think many would have a problem with Hutch if he'd chosen that route - make it clear he'd like to leave whilst continuing to do the job.

I absolutely agree that it's weird that nobody triggered his release clause. But given that nobody did want to pay £35m, I'm struggling to understand why they would now pay £40m (or anything above £35m). If they will, fantastic. But I'm just left scratching my head as to why nobody triggered it, got him in earlyish, saved money. And as they didn't, is there really a market for him? It would be pretty galling to lose him at less than the release clause price. That would be Morsy-levels of rubbish deal-making. If there's no release clause in place, and it's a young(ish) player who wants to play in the Prem, I can kind of understand the club treading carefully. But when you give someone a release clause and nobody triggers it, I would think ITFC should be firmer and telling the guy to play. Nobody wanted you, suck it up, you're a Town player. I suppose it's possible that he's on the verge of signing somewhere else, but Kieran didn't give off those vibes in his interview.
