The Boats keep coming 20:35 - Aug 13 with 3409 views | onceablue | Regardless of the 1 in 1 out Labour policy Gimmick that has absolutely no chance of working 1600 people have arrived in 4 days in 26 boats If the sea remains calm this will be the norm certainly for August/september Macron has completely mugged Starmer off. No wonder he was kissing and hugging Kier The French want rid of the Migrant camps and won’t be happy until they are all gone. The only thing that will stop the boats is the Weather. The current Government or who ever is in charge needs to come clean and admit there is no answer It won’t be long until we see 100,000 a year arriving by this method I totally get it that everyone wants to live in a perceived Civilised society but how the hell do we pay for it The Tories created a 22 billion black hole over 14 years the Labour Party have created a 50 billion black hole in 12 months!!!!!!

The Boats keep coming on 22:22 - Aug 13 by Illinoisblue | Do these “free phones” actually exist? |
There were some given out during Covid because people were literally restricted like the rest of us. But now fake “ex employee” videos pop up every so often saying things like they can all choose Samsung or iPhone and get a wad of cash each week. As you can imagine you’d have to be a dim bulb not to see that for what it is.

If it isn’t a benefit who the hell is paying for it. The existing population who receive benefits then have to use this money to pay for everything they need. The money you quote that is given to the existing population compared to the migrants is crazy, as you have not included any of the hotel costs, food, dentist, phone costs that are spent on migrants You not really comparing apples with apples are you now? |
When you say 4/5 star hotels, you know they are not living in 4/5 star hotel conditions dont you? Have you some examples of actual cushy conditions? Or just getting this from some facebook bubble?

The brief study's undertaken by a group at the UEA, not sure if will be published, but yeah the free phone stuff is true. It's also weird, you'd think the government would choose refurb cheaper devices etc but no. It's a weird world currently and it's certainly not all Kier's fault as some seem to make out, but it is a serious problem and some of the criminality that's happened according to some of Norfolk Police is massively concerning

So they bring phones with them then. Are they still on their own county’s tariff or have they got free roaming? 😂 If they are only getting £9.95 a week how the hell are they paying for their phones. I have a rubbish phone and it costs me £40 a month.

The Boats keep coming on 20:48 - Aug 13 by Pendejo | That black hole of £50bn is that on top of the £22bn or inclusive? I mean £28bn in a year is still pretty impressive but then it costs money to fix things and service debt. Especially when the utilities are foreign owned and the profits flow out of the country rather than reinvested within. As for the boats; it's Johnson, Farage and the Brexiteers that are to blame. As part of the EU we could send them all back... That's why there's not much appetite to stop them in France, we're not part of Europe so not their problem. We had more control of our borders as part of EU than we do now. |
We should just tariff everything. After all it’s making the US loads of money and big tax breaks are going to go to the very day man and woman. MEGA Make England Great Again. If only Trump could take over England as I’ve seen suggested my britis( people recently.

It is apples with apples as I also excluded housing benefits from the uk benefit number, likewise doctors, dentists etc, was merely comparing single base benefit allowances to make the comparison valid. The numbers of uk benefit recipients I was quoting have also never worked, but will have received up to 30 years of benefits, education, healthcare without ever contributing a penny in tax. Oh, and if the asylum seekers are getting food with their accommodation then their allowance drops to just £10 per week, which shows you both didn’t read my post or have any understanding of the benefits you’re referring to. Finally only 30% are currently housed in hotels, which is about 38,000 across around 220 hotels of which all but a handful are considered 3 stars or less. But don’t let facts get in the way of your bigotry.

You don’t think that a hotel will reduce the facilities and lower the quality of service it provides when it is allocated as asylum accommodation. Dear god, I initially used to think your posts were being deliberately antagonistic but it now turns out you’re just a gullible fool who laps up all the vitriol that the likes of the daily fail serves up, and lack the ability to think independently. The Boats keep coming on 21:58 - Aug 13 by bsw72 | You call out someone for being stupid and then follow on straight away talking about how those coming over in small boats get benefits. You are actually become a rather embarrassing parody of yourself. As for your nonsense while awaiting a decision, asylum seekers may qualify for support under Section 95 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, but only if they’re destitute or at risk of becoming so. This includes basic accommodation (e.g. in a hotel, hostel, or Home Office housing) and a small weekly allowance. Typical weekly payments: - £49.18, if their lodging does not include meals. - £9.95, if their accommodation does include meals. Additional small boosts for pregnant women or mothers of very young children (e.g. +£5–£9 per week, plus a one-off £300 maternity grant). They cannot claim Universal Credit or other mainstream state benefits while waiting. Compare that to a 25 year old Brit who has never worked in their life in the uk so not contributed in tax in any. They get £400 per month, or about £92 per week, plus housing allowance etc There’s an estimated 1.7m brits aged 16-30 who have never worked, so even if only 50% of those claim the minimum benefit, that’s a cost of £4bn per year vs the £260m per 100k asylum seekers. But yes, asylum seekers on small boats are the biggest drain on uk economy. |
Your figures as usual just don’t add. 25 year old not working on benefits £400 per month £4,800 + £1000 a month housing allowance £12,000 = £16,480 25 year old in hotel average cost £80 per night including food = £29,400 + weekly allowance Some migrants having been in Hotels for 2 years.

“Asylum seekers do not receive phones as part of their standard support package from the Home Office, though a number of charities do provide donated phones to new arrivals to make it easier for them to contact solicitors and monitor the progress of their claims.” https://fullfact.org/live/2024/jun/nigel-farage-asylum-seekers-smartphones/#:~:t Or more official from a council: “No, this is a myth and completely untrue. Asylum seekers only receive basic living necessities from the state.” https://www.dudley.gov.uk/residents/register-office/asylum-seekers/#:~:text=Do%2

Most migrants are stuck in hotels because the previous government cut back in the staff processing them...so instead of a quick process of grant asylum or return to original country we've ended having to find them accommodation.

When we were taking refugees / asylum seekers from Afghanistan the Daily Mail ran a story about them being accommodated in the “salubrious” Royal Hotel in Clacton. It had been closed, boarded up and empty for years but it didn’t dampen down that rag’s outrage. Nothing is as simple as you perceive it to be. When will you accept that most on here do not agree with your xenophobia and would rather discuss issues with a degree of understanding and compassion? [Post edited 14 Aug 7:03]
