Coventry have offer rejected for Woolfenden… on 19:11 - Aug 19 with 3286 views | MK1 | I would hope to keep him, but if he wants to play most weeks, then he needs to move. O'Shea and Greaves are going to play the majority if not all the games this season, so sadly I can see him wanting to move on. I think nothing less than £10M is fair.

Coventry have offer rejected for Woolfenden… on 19:15 - Aug 19 with 3158 views | gainsboroughblue | Woolfy will be 27 before the end of this year and is good enough to be a starter in this division. If he wants to move, you can't really blame him. He really should be a regular somewhere by now. I know it's a squad game and everything but it's harder as a defender as you don't tend to get the same level of rotation in the back four.

Difficult one really, he's not young young anymore, 27 in a couple of months. Pure profit from a PSR point of view and firmly behind O'Shea, which is arguably / most unfortunate competition in the squad. Captain, PL quality defender, least rotated outfield position in the side. From his point of view I could see why he might want to go. Change for change sake selling him now though, he's excellent cover and still got 2 years on his deal.

Minimum 8 years top level playing left and an almost guarantee starter for anyone else in this division. If he played for Stoke, I would be happy if we payed them £10M for him.

Seriously? He's a 26 year old who's been a starting CB for a promoted team. Bloody Aiden Flint used to go for 8 mill years ago. Another one under valuing our players and their ability. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I’d rather him stay don’t get me wrong but £10m is a stretch Don’t think we need the fee whatever that may be or to sell just for the sake of it

If he wants first team football, then best we let him have it. Barring injury, he has FA Cup games and the odd mid week away game to look forward to here. Woolfy has more experience than Greaves when we signed him for £15M+.

Lambert (yes, I know) was touting him around for £8m in the league one days.

He was very close to going to Sheff Utd for around half that figure just before Covid. That game we lost at Rotherham midweek, was around then.
Coventry have offer rejected for Woolfenden… on 19:44 - Aug 19 with 2452 views | AVJones | Surely we should let him go on a free, like we did Morsy? It would be the “classy thing to do” after his many years of service… Whilst I’m joking, of course, it continues to mystify me why he signed a new contract. It’s criminal that someone as good as him could barely play this season.

Well we paid £18M for Greaves, so I’d say £10M for Woolfie would bag someone a bargain.

Why sell to a promotion rival unless the offer is silly?
Coventry have offer rejected for Woolfenden… on 20:04 - Aug 19 with 2096 views | Garv | The only way I see him having a future with us is maybe going on loan at the end of this window or in January, coming back for the PL campaign next season and us somehow developing a long term back three formation, where he'd fit in nicely. It's a scenario I'd love to see. Assuming we don't suddenly change formation halfway through this year. O'Shea is there for the foreseeable unless injured. If he leaves, we'll replace him with a similar standard defender. Just don't think Wolfy is seen as blood and thunder enough as a CB, certainly in a two. I doubt he wants to move, laid back Ipswich boy etc, but I imagine he'll reluctantly come to the conclusion he needs to play.

Eh? Shall we give away all our players who don’t start? We need a squad of quality throughout. We’d be feckin idiots if we went into this season with only 11 players, or a first team with really crap backup (which would amount to the same thing). What’s happening to people lately. Is it the heat?

He’s given the club everything, from the worst period in our history to the best in the last 20 years and been professional throughout despite Premier League interest while we were rotting in League 1. He has a legitimate grievance and has asked to leave. Why would we stand in his way? No one’s saying let him go for nothing but we owe him the chance to explore his options, especially when we are being linked with players in his position!!
