Ive been here for 20 odd years and even in the days of Keane/Jewell/Lambert I cant remember this level of criticism against the club. Even more weirdly the over the top nature of it.
There wont be a single fan happy with how things are going at the moment, that's a given. But most sane people will realise that
A) There's been 3 games (excluding cup,) B) There's been fine margins each time C) The transfer window isnt closed yet.
But some are going on as if we've been thrashed 4 nil each game and weve got a squad of rubbish.
Was it the success that's made people lose their minds or is it just a reflection of the world today that makes people enjoy being edgy and different on the Internet and winding up everyone who dares to question them?
OP wasn’t one of only 3 openly female posters on here back in the Wild West days of 25 years ago. There was also, sad to say, some homophobia and even a bit of racism.
Recent times have been a great deal better (well done Phil and Gav).
Racism? There was some industrial banter but I dont remember racism ever being tolerated on here
"Blueas is a great guy, one of the best." - Donald Trump
It’s very divided. As with many other topics, trying to have sensible debate online is challenging. A vocal minority choose to see so much in the world - religion, politics, sport, whatever subject - as it being a case of their opinion and then the wrong opinion.

Maybe not overtly but there has been, until quite recently, posters who will assert that low level motoring offences, for example, are more likely to be committed by playing staff who share a racial characteristic. That was definitely being done more obviously a couple of decades ago and Phil has clamped down on it well.
Personally, I look at last season in The Prem', in isolation. Drew a line when we kicked off this season. And understand that all the upheaval will require some time to put right again...
I don't even think the International break will be of really great benefit, being as most of the squad will be away on International duty... Spose it will give KM and back room staff a chance to clear their heads after the window and work with whoever is here..
As a club, we are absolutely light years ahead of where we were a few seasons back. There will always be bumps in the road.
Funnily enough, an old comedy (about 2005?) is currently getting repeated on R4Extra. ‘In the Red’ (iirc written by genius Mark Taverner), it features a by-election which centres around a new political entity called ‘The Reform Party’ …
Ooh, I remember that. Got made into a TV mini series. And all three parts are on YouTube!
Back to the matter in hand and yep, I agree, I've known it to be much worse in years past. Beat Derby, and nerves will hopefully settle.
Some people demand instant success. They've grown-up in a money buys you instant success period and won't accept it can be about hard work and slow progress. Which is why some seem to be writing the season off after only 3 games.
Throw in everyone is a football expert now, well they think they are, and will tell you precisely what single tweak is required.
We also have the glory hunters, once we arrived in the Prem. They were always going to get upset after relegation, as it doesn't help with their bragging rights. If we end up in the Champ for a few seasons they will go back to supporting ManU
Unfortunately like last season when some fans were initially thinking about us being midtable, its that unrealistic approach that is adding to the toxicity.
Fans need to remember we've only played 3 leagues this season, loads of games left.
However Ive known more toxicity. It was bad after the last Prem relegation and Burley had us floating around the bottom half of the league. Same when the two Paul's were here. Mick at the end, it was worse

I guess you're right.
I picked my phone up this morning, saw some clown asking if we are allowed to criticise MA and KMc, X/Twitter is full of absolute ridiculous comments about players etc and I just find it crazy... how so many are having a total meltdown.
It’s not toxicity. Phil and Gav have secured gvmt funding for a care in the community program. A number of posters have been given very special dispensation to post their nonsense as it makes them feel better about themselves and gives their carers a bit of a break.
If you find yourself reading a post that is blatantly ridiculous and aimed to cause offence and discourse, just think to yourself “ah bless them, they’ve done well to type a sentence in”, the same way you treat a toddler who’s tried to write their name or draw their family.
I'm not on X/Twitter, I don't need the aggro. On here though, it's not to bad in my opinion. Let's be clear though, we ALL want Ipswich Town to be successful. Yes some of us, like me are worried and frustrated, but I will still be there in Saturday cheering us on, I'm wearing my Home shirt today, proudly so in the coffee shop. So yes voice your concerns, question the management decisions, praise and criticise but please, go it respectfully. Can we stop with bedwetter and happy clapper accusations please? Come on, we're better than this.
I wouldn’t say toxic but massively over the top, reactionary and impatient for sure. It’s the number of single threads that follow the same theme, making a statement or asserting a truth rather than opening a debate. Each requires someone to close it down for what it is! I have to mute many threads a day to make the message board readable.
OP Not toxic. Our successive promotions and a relegation have made people lose their minds in terms of who we are and how we have to reset and reconnect and rebuild a new team. Social Media is pretty useless for reasonable discussion.
It’s not even that toxic. A handful of “bedwetters” on one end and a handful of “happy clappers” on the other, and most everyone else in between.
We’ve been slapped around for a year after two years of being ridiculously wonderfully good. It’s football, there will always be an emotional reaction.
Is it fare to include the Prem' season when we were well out gunned by most opposition?
We've lost 1 league game all season...

Agree, it’s very easy to say we’ve only won once in 41. It’s more realistic to say we’re unbeaten this season with a very new team except admittedly a poor performance in the cup.
How about looking to the future. Our squad is improving, our game control is getting better, it won't be long before it all falls into place. A few new quality signings to plug the gaps and we will be fine. I can't see any point in getting angry about what's going on, when we cannot change anything about it. If anything slagging players off because they may have a few bad games will never make them better.
I think we’re in the worst run of form basically ever. If you ask me it’s remarkably sanguine.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

An all-time favourite of mine (along with the three sequel series).

What are you talking about exactly? Theres a few budgie trolls and people too stupid to spot them.
Given we had literal doxxing and weird obsessive stalkers at times over peoples views during previous managers, this is nothing. The Paul eras alone were way worse and rightly so. The board is positively vanilla comparatively.
Yeah so vanilla, I wouldn't be surprised if it was worse on here when we slipped to 4th in our L1 promotion season.
