I think the northern monkeys generally class United as THE Sheffield team and Wednesday as a team and following from the suburbs and outer villages .. I guess kesgrave and felixstowe stylee ?

We had a period of intensive rivalry during those years under Burley when we were building towards our successful 99/00 season. I think it was just because they were a bloody good team under Warnock and a pain in the arse to our aspirations. I’m not sure whether there was anything more to it than that. A lot of people on here seem to like Warnock, but I still hold a grudge lol
I wonder what odds rommers would have got us for the wendys to be above the blunts after 4 matches and In with a good chance of making the last 16 of the milk cup ? It’s a funny old game saint

If of any of them, it'd be Wednesday. Never liked United after the Taricco vs. Dane Whitehouse stuff, then the Play Offs and then Colin after that too.
I think when I was growing up and first getting into football .. Wednesday were relevant as much as United weren’t .. that’s just an accident of timing .. but certainly United were a 3rd division team ? And Wednesday were an attractive 1st and 2nd with waddles, George’s dad and imre varadi in their ranks at times plus also hillsborough as an FA cup semi venue..and United were bit of a nothing burger.
Living in this fine city of Sheffield there is a stark difference between those with rational thoughts (United) and those with ermmmm..... no thought process about anything (Wednesday)
We're talking different "cliental" and in some respects species
Plus Bramall Lane is my side of the City so ......
United all day for me ...if I was forced to prefer either obviously
