Too soon. Conor’s contribution will be measured by how it’s remembered in 10-20 years, which is probably a more realistic minimum for someone to be added to the hall of famed.

Others from the past would surely be ahead of him for adding eg Martijn Reuser

Reuser? A a cult hero for sure, but there’s no way he’s ahead of Conor in terms of overall contribution.

That’s not the point. I’m not attempting to compare their contributions. Conor is fresh in people’s minds, and for many a player they experienced, whereas they won’t have experience of players from 10, 20 or more years ago.

It’s about how the ‘reputation’ of a player endures through the years. Typically a hall of fame recognises those that endure the years. Not someone added during their time with the club, or soon after. And he’s still our player, out on loan.

If the hall of fame was to work like that, what about Morsy?

Ok, fair enough. We’ll revisit in 20 years! I’ll be depressingly old by then

The mere concept of this "hall of fame" and "inducting" people into it, is inane American nonsense and I hate it. Players are famous, well regarded, etc for all sorts of reasons, irrespective of stupid marketing based collections of names.

Just saying.

A club legend are players who took us to our finest hours like the 61/62 side Fa cup winners and the great uefa Cup winning side although a notable achievement going from league 1 to the Premiership last season was totally embarrassing. Thank you so very much appreciated but legend.

"Legend" is well over used these days....
Got to be lifting some silverware, break the clubs all time goals record or appearance record, for me...
Love Chaplin, but he's a "fans favourite" and not a club legend in my eyes.

What if he falls out with the Portsmouth manager and goes on loan to Norwich?

Best to wait until he retires.

What is the obsession with Chaplin over the rest? A superb player, an important figure in our rise but no more key than. The other starters from the double promotion team. If one goes in, they should all go in.

I’m going to be a supporter of CC in such a proposal but also feel the test of time is important. I expect he’s done enough in his era on the pitch and had a great impact off the pitch but it is how he handles and retains some connection with the club over the next years that will become important for final legendary status.

I never understand why these players take 10/15 years to get in there.

He and Morsy were (IMO) the 2 main men in our promotions. Deserve to go in there now. No questions asked.

Many of the others will follow suit. But there’s two go in now

Reuser got 2 massive goals, that aside to even put him in the same sentence as Chaplin is insane.

And I say that as someone who loved/loves reuser

Morsy should be there as the captain of a back to back promotion team.

While you're not wrong, the fact is that our Hall of Fame contains players like Gavin Johnson, Jason De Vos and Frank Yallop.

Not saying they weren't decent players, but by those standards Conor Chaplin absolutely deserves to be in there. As does Sam Morsy.

Plus, it's an absolute pain in the arse having so many ex-players hanging around and clogging up the hall. I had to get rid of my Ming dynasty umbrella stand and forty year old aspidistra when Graham Harbey turned up.

Surely it is down to individuals as to how they view Town players based on their memories and perception.

I don't need to be told who is and who is not a club legend - this whole "Hall of Fame" is just marketing nonsense.

I was thinking about this recently and how legends and icons are often titles we give for people who perform wonders at the top level. However, is the Burley Promotion into Europe actually more impressive than double promotion?

On paper, absolutely it is - however, when we look at football finances and how promotion to the PL and Europe hadn't quite reached the levels it has now, maybe the double promotion was more unlikely and impressive to achieve.

When we were in our 15 year "Everton of the Championship" era, achieving a series of mid table finishes, we were often lamenting how parachute payments and reckless financial spending (Derby in particular) made promotion harder goal to achieve - promotion always felt like a closed door.

However, in comes McKenna and takes us from a club that was starting to look like relegation to L2 was just as plausible as promotion to L1, galvanised it and added to the squad built under uncomfortable stewardship and marched to the premier league via back to back automatic promotions.

If you ask me, that is more impressive than the already remarkable feat from George Burley, and his players. So, Connor Chaplin as a club legend? Yes. Did he do more than Reuser? Yes. Keep in mind that Reuser was, and is, my favourite player I have ever watched live - so this is quite an admission from me.

Shoutout to Wes Burns, Morsy and Burgess who also deserve that accolade imho.

Burgess is a whole other box of kippers too as he did seem to fit the bill at all when he first joined, and now - he's probably one of our biggest losses.

As I already said, I'm not in any way comparing the two directly - just observing that Reuser did have an enduring impact for the club that is very memorable, even if it was only a couple of huge moments. He there should come under consideration at some point for those great
memories.

I'd argue that if anyone from the back-to-back group should be honoured with Hall of Fame status, it should be Morsy. He was an ever present across the three seasons and was the leader.

We have inducted an entire team previously, and I agree - that makes more sense. The team of 22/23/24 should be considered for induction at some point.

Not sure about that tbh.

Helped us get promoted to PL

Helped us finish 5th in the PL and secure European football.

That’s a significant contribution imho
