As a fan of town 19:56 - Sep 14 with 3324 views | FrimleyBlue | You want the prem because it's the top league But as a football fan.. is it wrong that watching prem football does nothing for me and that I love the ugliness of championship and lower league football Watching city v utd today. I just felt I'm just watching tippy tappy passing for 90 minutes. Barely any battles on the pitch. No real defensive mistakes that made it fun to watch. Just a bit of a bore fest despite 3 goals and perhaps more.

As a fan of town on 20:02 - Sep 14 with 2830 views | football | Totally agree - really don’t enjoy watching it and yesterday decided to watch some Championship games rather than PL. Its proper football But appreciate that’s where we need to aim
As a fan of town on 20:04 - Sep 14 with 2816 views | MK1 | I have made no secret of wanting us to stay in the Championship. Obviously I want us to be as successful as possible, but the PL is just so sterile. 8th in the Championship and a quarter final or better cup run every 3 years and then MK1 would be a very happy bunny.

It's a bit rubbish when the promised land is such a let-down Blah blah, journey is better than the destination Maybe we will all feel a bit better if we can give the Prem a bit more of a go next time

I'd probably enjoy the games then as town are in it. But i got more enjoyment today watching Southampton v pompy a 0-0 than the Manchester Derby. Which is wrong.

No thanks,we had nearly 20 years of that under Evan’s. And if you think the fans will stick around then forget it,most won’t. We need to be successful to keep the interest or we could end up in league 1 again. It baffles me how some supporters want this. Utter nonsense.

Many PL games may be repetitive moves and plays, often neutralising each other, but at least most games involve playing the football. That can’t be said for the majority of Championship games, where the football gathers more icicles than blades of grass, or the opposition gather the player rather than the ball. I’ll take the former anytime, and it also involves competing at the top, not accepting 2nd tier mediocrity. Each league has the odd exception, but for me the PL is more about playing the ball.
As a fan of town on 21:24 - Sep 14 with 2318 views | darkhorse28 | City have never been fun to watch. But it’s winning football so hard for people to complain. What I find interesting is our style is based in theirs as are most young managers style.., inverting layers, over loads. I’m not sure we’ve been very entertaining since 23/24. Winning football covers many sins. We loved Mick when we won.

As a fan of town on 21:59 - Sep 14 with 2158 views | PrideOfTheEast | Think I agree. Found the Portsmouth game much more exciting than any premier league screened this weekend, and that was 0-0! I think it might be different if we were competitive in the league above but I’m not convinced tbh. Obviously I am desperate for us to get promoted but not sure I’m that bothered about what lies ahead. Feels odd saying that.

Not nonsense, what fans want is for their team to win. Repeating last season is not a turn on for me. I am happy if we either get promoted and compete (unlike last season) or we stay and fight it out in the Championship. At least we win our fair share in the Champs.

hmm, Newcastle v Wolves tested that to the limit this weekend for sure. the PL is where we want to be though, for all the talk about Championship games being proper football, there will be more games like Derby this season than there will be games like Sheff Utd.
As a fan of town on 22:58 - Sep 14 with 1933 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Nope. I want to be a competitive Prem team. I really feel like the club learnt their lesson after last season, mainly with recruitment and how we recruit overseas. Sunderland are laying a great blueprint with their recruitment, athletic, competitive players from overseas. I back the club to learn from that and do better in the transfer windows should we get back up.

As a fan of town on 23:00 - Sep 14 with 1926 views | Mark | I had to give my eyes a rest after the Man City match due to all that advertising. I saw someone in the crowd wearing a half-and-half Man City / Man Utd scarf!! Sky interviewed a player at half-time.
As a fan of town on 23:58 - Sep 14 with 1731 views | ParisBlue | Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United supporters spoke about this a lot last season. For Sheffield United, not sure missing out and losing every week in the Championship is quite what they thought the alternative would be....

Saw several half and half scarves, and had a double take. They are awful at the best of times, but a local derby! imagine seeing us and a scum half and half - would never happen. PL is full of tourists and I Haye that
As a fan of town on 03:39 - Sep 15 with 1361 views | Churchman | Agree FB. And with a lot of other comments about the Premier League. But I want us to be the best we can be which means to ultimately to compete in the top Division. It’s possible. I certainly do not want us to be scraping around as we did last season or ‘heroically defend’ at home for most of the game as Burnley did yesterday. There’s no point in that.
As a fan of town on 07:04 - Sep 15 with 1015 views | Blue_In_Boston | I'm sure we all loved the Premier League under George Burley when we had a cracking season and played some beautiful football. Short memories some people.

You must have been a much less happy bunny than the rest of us this last decade then. It's nice to know that someone still cares about the cup, but sadly the club doesn't. What happens if we're 2nd, going into the last half dozen fixtures? Will you be screaming for us to lose? Your first two sentences don't add up. How can you want us to stay in this division, but also "obviously" want us to be as successful as possible? Your first sentence makes clear that you don't want what should be the obvious thing for all football fans to want, namely for their club to do as well as possible. That includes coming above 8th, ideally. I guess 8 is a revered number in some cultures. Each to his own. But I prefer for my football team to do well.

But then a lot of us get replaced by Johnny come latelies who have always been a fan of Ipswich County. Tickets are making low point thresholds/general sale again, so selfishly that’ll do me.

As a fan of town on 08:35 - Sep 15 with 666 views | ringwoodblue | I agree. I am still pi55ed about going down last year. If we had managed to stay up, I would be hoping we could become an established PL side like Bournemouth and Brighton have yet I still prefer Championship football as it’s far more entertaining and unpredictable. If it wasn’t for the top 6 in the PL, it could be a more competitive and entertaining league but there is so much money at the top, we are at a massive disadvantage when we do go up again.

As a fan of town on 08:40 - Sep 15 with 634 views | baxterbasics | What's the point in playing at all if you don't aspire to be among the best, or even to be the best? I feel quite positive that if KM gets us back up, he'll do better up there next season. Not going to predict survival, but at least it might be a closer run shot at it.
