Have had a bit of think about this this morning and having had a silly number of abuse reports and subsequent PMs this morning, as well as having to deal with another issue with a banned user which if I told you the full story you wouldn't believe and is in the hands of lawyers, it's got to the point where I really don't have the patience, inclination or time to give those who continue to cause issues on here. I've told one returning user he's banned after repeating the same sort of thing that got him banned before and I don't think there can be any complaints. The same will happen to those who continue to waste our time.
One thing that would help is forced ignore. I would happily div list 5-6 if they could no longer respond to me as I know how petty they are and the sort of things they would post knowing it can't be seen.
A couple of users also said the other day they put people on ignore and then log out to see what has been said...which is mad but if they knew they were not being replied to maybe they wouldn't do that.
I'd also hand out a few suspensions of a week or two. You can't keep posting this thread. It must drive you crazy. I don't think i'm that bad overall but all of the above is posted knowing I am not entirely innocent.

As I said on Phil’s first thread of this kind this morning - which he’s now apparently had to delete, rather summing up the incredibly inconsiderate attitude of some - the enforced ‘mutual ignore’ simply does not work in the form it takes on this site - posters are easily able to get around it if they want to.
Needs a total block facility that can be enacted by users themselves, as you used to be able to do on pre-musk Twitter.

Yep. Posters shouldn't be able to read the board unless they are logged in. Obviously they can still access the news site and other parts of the board such as the fixtures, table etc.
Then, once logged in then they can only see posts from users that are not on their ignore list. If it is a forced mutual ignore from Gav then it would be as if the other poster didn't exist.

I am not sure how easy that is technically but it shouldn't be the site adapting to users' behaviour, it should be users' behaviour adapting to and following the site's rules.
For what it is worth, I don't put people on ignore and my comments don't intentionally involve any nastiness and rarely lead to any nastiness in response. If it does, I will always turn the other cheek.
If that includes me, it was just some friendly advice as we see this thread several times a week. Just throwing some ideas out there.
As members, I don't think it's either unhelpful or unreasonable to make suggestions which could improve the board. And of course it's entirely up to Phil if he takes those suggestions onboard or not.

Agree, and as i've said many times, I don't request new features for free. Happy to pay a one off fee towards any work or a subscription for enhanced ignore etc.
