I can't get my head around things like this - I was going to say 'anti-science' but then I'm prejudging a motivation which I just don't understand, literally. I'm confused by it and it really makes me feel like I'm a different species or something. I really struggle dealing with people who aren't fundamentally honest, even people who are just almost what you might call 'normally' deceitful and manipulative - I can't handle it, it devalues everything for me, from personal relationships to international diplomacy, and it doesn't do the deceiver any favours as far as I can see, not in terms of the true currency of their happiness anyway. So what are these loons like Tr*mp actually up to? a. Are you saying it's dogmatic religious claptrap coming up against science and they actually believe in what they're doing over cold hard evidence? b. Or are they trying to kill off the masses while they secretly carry on benefiting from things that they publicly disavow? c. Are they just mad? d. Is it some sort of big joke?

So Trump’s now telling US doctors on 07:14 - Sep 23 with 972 views | StokieBlue | His speech was disgraceful. Not only was it unscientific but he's followed RJKs lead in attempting to undermine the MMR vaccine at a time when measles is making a comeback in the US. A vaccine that has repeatedly been proven safe and the doctor who cast doubt on it was struck off for falsifying data. He also looked to undermine the Hepatitis vaccine. There was a good documentary the BBC last night on Disease X which really highlights why we need to be scientific about discussions and not look to undermine effective treatments thus we could be in real trouble if something nasty comes along. This from a BBC report on the Charlie Kirk memorial (as well as the description of Kirk as a martyr) suggests that religion certainly plays a very big part in what's going on. "Kirk memorial's religious and political mix hints at future of Maga movement Hint of a religious revival While the event had its discordant notes, the overall theme was akin to a religious revival – reminiscent of Billy Graham's tent crusades of the 1930 and 1940s or the "great awakenings" of the 19th Century. The memorial service celebrated Charlie Kirk's Christianity and promised a new enthusiasm among young Americans for traditional values with an evangelical fervour. Tens of thousands of supporters packed the stadium and millions more watched online. Those numbers are sure to be encouraging for conservative leaders who want to see Christianity play a more central role in American public and political life – a view that Kirk himself repeatedly expressed. "The body politic of America was so Christian and was so Protestant that our form and structure of government was built for the people that believed in Christ our Lord," Kirk said in 2024. "You cannot have liberty if you do not have a Christian population."

It was only a matter of time. The lyrics of New Model Army's Christian Militia written in 1984 are hauntingly prescient. Weird interpretations of Christianity seem to almost be the fuel and justification for the Trump regime. Christian Militia There's a witch hunt coming, screaming out on it's rebirth There's a crusade coming, Hellfire's back here on earth See the light in their eyes shine, listen to their words like swords The Christian militia is marching now There's a witch hunt coming, born out of all the American fears There's a new purge coming, an inquisition for all of us here Hold onto your sanity as best you can While some Hitler claims to speak for the Son of Man The Christian militia is marching now Hatred makes the adrenaline flow Stir up the fire watch it grow Everybody loves a righteous cause Old lives forgotten in holy wars Everything forgotten in holy wars There's a nightmare coming, shut up your doors shut up your mind There's a nightmare coming - Born Again, born again blind The girls show the way, then show us their legs With American showbiz razzmatazz With sex in one hand and a gun in the other, Christ returns The right-wing respectable clampdown clan Find their figure head in a holy man Here come the Christians an hysterical mob Worshiping the Devil in the name of God Worshiping the Devil in the name of God [Post edited 23 Sep 7:35]

I’m beginning to wonder whether David Icke was right and the world is being taken over by reptilian humanoids from the Draco constellation. They’ve obviously been here for a while but are now pushing the boundaries to see what they can get away with. Effectively they are normalizing the extreme ahead of revealing themselves, because by that stage the world will be relieved its aliens and not just power crazed megalomaniacs.

Possibly they’ve worked out it’s the ultimate grift that will have their tribe unquestionably devoted, so they can then get away with doing what they want to their own benefit. I don’t think you need to look much further than greed and self-interest for motives.

I struggle to see the ultimate goal too. Because let's face it, anything Trump does is ultimately in service of Trump. What good does killing off lots of people (and not just 'the wrong sort', wink wink)? The only thing I can think of is peddling some other 'cures' that they have large stakes in.

So it's just a cynical manipulation of the gullible masses. I suppose that is it, it's almost too obvious to be obvious! But either Tr*mp and RFKJ et al are exceptional actors, or they're also part of the gullible masses themselves. Who's pulling the strings? Is it the lizards?

So Trump’s now telling US doctors on 08:28 - Sep 23 with 573 views | DJR | Interestingly, Trump has linked increasing autism cases to the use of paracetamol, but the drug has been in common use in the US and the UK since the 1950s so that claim doesn't (in a causal sense) seem to stand up to scrutiny. This suggests other factors such as better diagnosis. [Post edited 23 Sep 8:39]

Yes, evangelical Christianity in the States seems far removed from the teachings of Jesus. EDIT: Take this abstract from the following link. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/2378023118790189 Despite increasingly frequent mass shootings and a growing dissatisfaction with current gun laws, American opposition to federal gun legislation remains strong. The authors show that opposition to stricter gun control is closely linked to Christian nationalism, a religious cultural framework that mandates a symbiotic relationship between Christianity and civil society. Using data from a national population-based survey, the authors show that Christian nationalism is an exceptionally strong predictor of opposition to the federal government’s enacting stricter gun laws. Of all the variables considered, only general political orientation has more predictive power than Christian nationalism. The authors propose that the gun control debate is complicated by deeply held moral and religious schemas that discussions focused solely on rational public safety calculations do not sufficiently address. For the substantial proportion of American society who are Christian nationalists, gun rights are God given and sacred. Consequently, attempts to reform existing gun laws must attend to the deeper cultural and religious identities that undergird Americans’ beliefs about gun control. [Post edited 23 Sep 8:46]

They are leveraging the public inclination to find a big conspiracy, perpetuated by big pharma etc that everyone can rebel against and will justify use of steps which shut down indpendent bodies and free speech. [Post edited 23 Sep 8:32]
