“I was at a club where regardless whether you took your opportunity or not there was politics behind it that you weren’t in the team for that reason or this reason”

Maybe backs up the claim of players starting because of the price tag?

Why was Kipre not picked on Tuesday after waiting for his opportunity and taking it with both hands when he got a go?

Kieran’s always stood by his first eleven when he was clear on it. He makes lots of changes with subs, but tries to stick to the same starting line up when it’s available. There’s no great conspiracy here. He knows what he wants and does it.

Because Kipre got cramp v Portsmouth last ten minutes. And Because of McKennas preferred choice had not played much football so another game 3 days later came to quickly.

Of course, I'm probably talking nonsense but all things being equal (and it could be argued that Burgess was the equal of Greaves) maybe the cost of a player and his likely resale value becomes a factor.
[Post edited 4 Oct 14:35]

yes, i can see that it might be a factor with burgess cf greaves given burg's age and refusal to sign a contract extension.

doesn't really track with o'shea v woolf as woolf had recently signed a contract

Regardless, it's good to see him come on after 53 minutes, and the still in the OP shows that he is still his impish and chipper self.

Agreed.

Not sure why people have a problem with him answering a question.

Yes it is rubbish

Ex player bad mouths ex club because we decided we wanted someone better.

It's sad that he's decided to go down that route but his attitude is clearly an insight into what he'd be like behind the scenes so not really a shock we'd want better qualities.

Can understand why he'll be annoyed tho
He's just finding out he's gone from being cover to being signed as cover for Coventry.

Hes not bad mouthed the club.

Just answered a question honestly.

Frimmers is right, he is probably really bitter as he contributes to his second clean sheet this season and Coventry extend their lead at the top of the table

He's answered a question honestly from his pov

I'm sure McKenna's pov would be different

It's not too hard to see why this could be a bit inflammatory

Yeah i mean I mean quality performance coming on at 3-0 up.

Let's see what happens when/if wolfy starts a game and If he carries on starting or gets replaced by the managers preferred starter due to internal Coventry politics.

Is it honest. That's the point.

It's not difficult to say I enjoyed my time at town. Long term club come to Coventry to get more game time. Simple and honest answer no..

Talking about internal politics of town when it can't be responded too unless our own press ask km about it. Is imo a form of bad nothing as it implies mckenna isn't professional.

So as Woolfy said in the interview, he felt that his performances were irrelevant and he was always going to be second choice. He doesn’t feel like that at Coventry. Don’t understand the issue here

And yet there he is, keeping Frank Lampard's bench warm on a regular basis...

Is it possible that Luke just wasn't the player KM wanted to fill the CB role, and so he was a sub? You know, like what happens at every club in the world, all the time, including at Coventry City?

You seem a bit obsessed with how 'hard done by' Luke is.

I supported Muric as the best option in goal for Ipswich. KM didn't agree and sent him on loan where, unlike Woolfy, he is getting regular game time.

Good for him. I thought differently to the manager, but guess what? My opinion is irrelevant to him! And rightly so!

Sorry that sounds like an it of sour grapes. McKenna has dropped high prices players for the greater good of the team, so Woolfy here sounds a bit bitter.

Looking forward to this being dismissed as rubbish despite Kipre being MOTM Saturday and dropped on Tuesday

Who says Kipre was MOTM against Pompey? Is this the same Kipre who lost his man, allowing them to score from a corner?

Don't get me wrong, he was decent overall (apart from a shakey start and that goal at the end), but MOTM? I'd give it to Matusiwa, personally.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

More likely he wasn't played as often as he wished because in a back four he was not as good as in a back three.
Our nickname for him was "deckchair" because at times he looked like he was sitting in one instead of dumping the centre forward on his derriere.

I don't think we're really missing him.

Hard agree

If Greaves had put in the performance Kipre did against Pompey absolutely no one would be talking as if he was MotM.

If Kipre had put in the performance Greaves did against Bristol, people would be calling him the best defender on the pitch

The politics didn't stop him signing an extension to his contract not that long ago.

if he's saying that in public, he was probably even more whingey in private.

a rotten apple infects the barrel, maybe it's best that we let him go

I've got a degree of sympathy for Woolfy.

He always did well and I think he was unlucky not to get more starts.

I think as much as KM will have been picking the best team, there will be pressure to make big signings work especially with our model of buying young talent with high ceilings.

I think part of the problem has been the speed of us turning things round as a club. It was inevitable that players would face this as soon as we were promoted again. We're financially well backed and we were suddenly able to recruit players from a step beyond our norm.

I also think that KM, whilst the best manager we could possibly have, definitely has a little bit of bias towards PL experience or suitability. In that I think him being an elite coach at an elite club at that level meant that he saw it as very different. Which it is of course but I think it would have been interesting if we had played more of the old guard last year. It's not a criticism of KM but I do wonder if the whole 'the PL is a different beast' had gone a bit far. Keeping Dara this summer was a coup for the club, current starting Irish CB, captain and PL experience etc. Probably took a bit of selling. Very hard to then drop him for Woolfy. Even for a manager who has always been fairly consistent in changing teams and giving people chances.

Brentford away -for example. Chappers and Hirsty both brilliant then despite the disappointment of the game in the end.
