Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 13:43 - Oct 10 with 760 views | bsw72 | I like it - I am normally on my own for matchdays, it's a decent place to loiter before the match if you don't want to go straight to your seat. Seems a good use of the space, and the food choices are increasing.

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 11:11 - Oct 10 by SitfcB | Agreed. It serves a good purpose for some. I doubt it takes that much trade away from the pubs tbh, I don’t think you get the heavy drinkers going to the fanzone. |
Agree - I am not a drinker and would not go to a pub pre-game, but quite happy to rock up and use the FZ.

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 12:44 - Oct 10 by WubbleU | Up the road they have used the fanzone as some sort of smoke screen for the 3000 seat moves. People can see the real reason is they want the current away end for high value hospitality space. Current fans won't get all of the seats in the current away end. They will be scattered into all those empty seats that have appeared now they are poo. Our time will come, more hospitality suites planned which will be prioritised over new season ticket sales and I'd put money on away fans being out of Cobbold in next few years. Lots more seat moves and upset ahead...modern football... |
They are not happy; | |

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 15:49 - Oct 10 with 588 views | TexacoCup | I don't use the Fanzone mainly because there are very few seats. i'm oldish, don't drink and my grandchildren live in Plymouth, so there's nothing much to draw me in. Having said that, it's a great feature for the club - kids and families seem to love it.

Ah, so the issue is about the move rather than the fan zone per se. I understand that. People get quite attached to where they sit/stand in the ground.

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 16:19 - Oct 10 with 532 views | swede | We are so fortunate to have such an amazing space for the fanzone. My grandson loves it although the number of kids activities has decreased this season. Probably to give space to the additional food vans? A couple of seasons ago, I was the guest of the away team in the boardroom. I stood with the CEO & Commercial Director of that club overlooking the fanzone and he said to me "what I wouldn't give, to have this facility at our club".
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 16:25 - Oct 10 with 508 views | Hipsterectomy | I do find it ironic that Scum won plaudits last season for their mental health video which included promoting relationships in the stand to then decide to forcefully remove fans in a home stand who have been there decades.

I think the Fanzone idea is poisoned by it's association with the seat moves, plus there seems to be "premium seating" going in some places to further alienate fans. If it was just a new fanzone I doubt there'd be any displeasure.
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 16:49 - Oct 10 with 456 views | ITFC_Forever | We go in there before every match for a multitude of reasons. Started after crowds were allowed back after Covid and some of our number were a bit unsure still about going in packed pubs. Then mate’s sister started coming and bringing her kids, and now my daughter and her friend come as well. While they’re now teenagers, they prefer it to a pub. Plus we go there for ease. I’d be happy to go to Arcade Tavern, Greyhound or Thomas Wolsey, but as I live off Belstead Rd and walk, and we can be relatively late depending on teenage daughter’s (lack of) sense of urgency, it’s quick and easy to go to and as close as it’s possible to get to our seats.

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 16:57 - Oct 10 with 439 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | Good idea, especially for families but could be better if they put decent money into it. Excuse my ignorance but is the training pitch still used for anything football related? I went before the Huddersfield promotion game as wanted to get in the ground early and you literally couldn't get a beer the lines were so long. As we have old side stands with outdated facilities, could be more potential there if we go up again. [Post edited 10 Oct 16:57]

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 11:57 - Oct 10 by stonojnr | I'm not sure they're dead against it as such, but their club has done such a p poor job of explaining to them what it will be for, compounded with the move for season ticket holders, their famous fans gaslighting them about it all, that they've lost the goodwill and trust of their fans that this is of benefit to them. Ive only been in ours twice i think, and thought it was terrible, but I can see why people use it, its just not for me, id rather drink or eat in local pubs, the beer is better and cheaper, though i often wonder how many of those clearly going to the game queuing at the hot dog stand in town realise the exact same food seller stand is in the fanzone. But if your a family with easily bored kids then its great I guess but its not on my list of musts on match days. |
Didn't know it was the same hotdog seller. Love their hotdogs. But in town they take cash, I assume they don't in the fanzone, so better for some maybe (well, me anyway!)

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 17:06 - Oct 10 with 416 views | TheBoyBlue | It's great for us as the children have space to run around with their friends who also come along whilst we have a beer with their parents, which they obviously couldn't do in most of the pubs in town. Plus its easier to get in in time as we sit in the Pioneer (or West Stand, it'll always be the Pioneer to me!)

The bar is bigger now, and the Hudds game was particularly busy. Usually the queues are long, but move fast, you’re never queuing for long.

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 19:49 - Oct 10 with 267 views | north_stand77 | We always go to the Fanzone before the game for a quick drink. It's easier to go there after travelling by train rather than going in to town. Have to say it's always busy and the new layout in the beer marquee makes it a lot quicker to get served. Particularly busy in good weather, but still plenty of room.
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 11:12 - Oct 11 with 119 views | Churchman | I’ve used it a number of times over the years. It’s a good facility and there is the space for it. On the upside the people working the beer sales are very good, big screen, there is stuff for children and plenty of food outlets. On the downside the little stage is a bit of a waste of time and the current layout looks a bit random. The idea is good, there is space - we are fortunate to have it. However I think it can be improved in many ways. Better tent with more seating or permanent structure, improve the layout so there is more activities for children? In other words just develop it using ideas from far more creative people than me. It’s a multi-use space so use it. Overall though it’s a good thing to have and a major upgrade on what was once there - a muddy training pitch to mooch about at halftime in or if you had a space, park your car.
