Didnt see the match 23:39 - Oct 17 with 2009 views | waveneyblue | Asked a couple of neutral friends for their verdict. Seems as if could've gone either way, game decided on missed pen/own goal. Then I read comments on here, Facebook and X/twitter. Fu*k me this is going to be a long tedious season

Didnt see the match on 00:02 - Oct 18 with 1737 views | FrimleyBlue | Personally think you're friends are overplaying it but i also understand where they are coming from as neutrals, it would look like that We did indeed have our own chances, however we didn't cope with Boro when ever we lost the ball and that was incredibly regular in this game. First 20 minutes it was ok, scrappy but ok, but boro adapted and we lost of sense of game management and when ever we lost the ball it looked like we literally forgot what our responsibilities were at that moment. Palmer went into prime buffon mode and saved what ever went his way. As a town fan and watching it following recent games, you expected alot more, but it wasnt really an amazing performance needed, it was just simple football required. We had Davis playing blind back passes to palmer, Kipre testing how hard he could hit the ball at Philogene before he broke his leg. Egeli appeared to upset the midfield as they refused to pass the ball to him Furlong decided that defending wasn't his job tonight and went running instead. Hirst unfortunately stepped up to take a pen, looked left, shaped left and shot left. Sammy S continues to miss his blackburn games when he was the one being played in on goal. so yeah, as a neutral i can see why they felt what they did and i probably would have said the same as a non town fan, but when you've been used to a certain level of football from town you defo expected more than what we got tonight One thing that im puzzled about tonight tho oshea scores a header, he says that's always been his bread and butter, near post header. so why have we spent all set pieces prior to his goal tonight sending him to the back post for a header back across goal......

If you look at the stats that is just incorrect. We also had a penalty denied for a clear handball and their second looked offside But you do love to be negative

Boro should have put 2 or 3 more chances away, they transitioned very very well. I particularly liked the way at our corners, they had a man on the halfway line to give an out ball to. In contrast, at their corners we were all in or around our 18yd box

I make this take further from the truth than the OP's friends' take. We created as much as them, slightly edged it on xG and could have had another pen for handball first half. There was LOADS of stuff about our performance last night that was frustrating and plenty of areas we need to work on, but even taking all that into account, Szmodics alone had enough decent chances for us to have scored a couple more last night, and we missed a pen. Let's not pretend the game was one way traffic and we got battered. Defensively we were poor, our play was sloppy at times, but take one or two of our good chances and the result ends up being different.

Didnt see the match on 08:38 - Oct 18 with 786 views | Cafe_Newman | Gotta say your neutral friends are closer to reality than the reactionary social media Town fan. Worth adding that no one stood out for us apart from Palmer. Poor Azón needs more regular service and a goal as does Akpom. We were off the pace today and probably 2nd best in every category, but it was a game we could have got something from, but didn't deserve to. We weren't awful and that's why it was an entertaining match for the neutral.
Didnt see the match on 08:42 - Oct 18 with 748 views | ArnieM | Forums are for opinions, and therefore will differ. Here's a Town fan's view which i read and will post here. Fully expecting the usual response from the usual few..... Hirst should’ve been dropped a few games ago. Same for Szmodics. Nunez should start every match when available. KM’s system doesn’t work if we don’t score goals because it makes our defence too vulnerable and we’re always gonna concede. Same old sh*t many of us have been saying. And WTF was Kipre thinking on that own goal! Sorry that’s inexcusable and I would have subbed him at half time. And speaking of subs, I’m tired of KM’s lazy tactics of trying to win games with 3 or 4 subs at once in the dying minutes of a match. Try to win the game from the beginning by putting your strongest starting 11 on the pitch! I’m also starting to believe KM’s coaching is not developing players and I now think he’s actually making players worse by stifling their abilities. Egeli is a promising, talented young player who has a history of performing, yet he’s non existent in KM’s system. There are other players too…Szmodics has regressed. Initially I thought maybe injuries were the culprit, but more and more I’m thinking it’s KM. We ain’t getting promoted this season.

Not sure we can replicate that togetherness from two seasons ago, not sure we should actually try. We need to concentrate more on individuals, and pairings, looking to make a difference. That was missing too much yesterday. Two home games to come points needed to continue the climb.

The ususal response to ignorant bobbins from fans who know sweet fa about football in the real world is to scoff. As you say, it's a forum. Expect to be called out on utter guff. Most of the stuff you're written here is random conjecture and FM stuff, but the bit about Kipre is so ridiculously clueless it stinks of troll. [Post edited 18 Oct 9:02]

It appears that the general consensus was we werent particularly great, but as usual a lot of the negativity is way over the top. To be honest, its getting to the point that I need to stay off social media after any game we dont win by 2 clear goals, as the morons in our fanbase seem to have lost their tiny minds.

I’m not sure that either Szmodics or Akpom are the answer at No 10. Chappers is the only player who works in that position. For their goal we had so many errors one after the other in the last few seconds of the half. We didn’t close them down on the edge of the box, Davis was out muscled, Cajuste should have rushed over to block the cross but ambled over and Kipre, well you’d expect him to be able to clear that ball. As someone earlier said Hirst looked left before running up and then hit it a yard inside the left hand post 2 feet off the ground. Such a poor penalty from someone who should be practising them every day. Cajuste and Matusiwa lost the midfield battle too. Our xg figure is inflated by the penalty too. They looked a better team than us all over the pitch. For the money we have spent we look a very disjointed team and lack cover for Matusiwa and the number 10
