What’s going on there then? In free fall.

Arrogant f**kers spent all pre season almost expecting to be promoted again. Then looked a decent side against us and I thought ‘probably a top six side after all’. Now they’re only 4 points off bottom and 1 win in 8 games (a 95th minute winner against Swansea at home).

Poll: Would you take a draw tonight if offered right now?

It’s an interesting position they’re in .. the manager is I think only still there as he went up breaking records with a squad that I could have got promoted and after the Eustace-Rooney scenario are probably holding back just a little bit longer..but then when they do jettison him .. who do they get ? Eustace return seems out of the question as he’s not doing anything with Derby and a flagpole name would have to be a tried and trusted one not a Rooney obviously.
Potentially a very promising project almost a slam dunk for the right person…but who’s Hollywood enough for them… Parkinson too I guess is in a similar position.

Just another foolish bunch who have underestimated how hard it is to achieve double promotions.

“We’re going to do an Ipswich” “If they can do it, so can we”.

There’s a reason it’s so rare…. It’s because it’s bloody difficult.

Wrexham ditch Parkinson.

Parkinson goes to Brum.

Gives the "platform crossover match" a huge "this time it's personal" boost in the USA at a time when I can only imagine interest is flagging as both clubs have hit a ceiling, currently.

I’m not surprised. There was no way they were going to be able to sustain the energy they had against us, nor get a ref each week that let them get away with constantly fouling. Quality-wise they weren’t great, but they won the physical battle.

This. It was insulting to the quality of McKenna and the quality of our double promotion group. Was evident on day 1 that they were nowhere near that.

To play in L1, spend a lot of money, win promotion to the Champ and then expect immediate promotion again to the PL is totally unrealistic, it never happens.

If it did it would be an unbelievable achievement!!!!!

As I said before the match with them there is not many goals in that team. They will raise their game for a bug match, but when you have bread and butter games like Watford or Derby then this divisions becomes really difficult. Same for Boro for me too.

They were so hyped up and energised by the occasion we could not a foot into the game, football-wise they were nothing special that day.

Which I am very much enjoying watching, alongside Wrexham. Both hugely arrogant and thinking they would be towards the top of the league. Both underestimated the quality of teams in the league. Brum will survive but not convinced Wrexham will and if they go down with Wednesday and the scum that would be fine by me.

Our game in hand is away. We haven't won away all season.

There's that "all season" phrase again.
You could equally say we've only lost 2 away games all season, and both of them only by a one goal margin.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Au contraire mon amie. I am very much a glass half full man when it comes to our current season.

League table by GlasgowBlue 18 Oct 17:47
There's been a massive overreaction to last night's result. Coming in to that game we were second in the form table after a good run of results.

I still believe we will finish in the top two. But I find this thread bizarre considering Birmingham are just one point behind us

I'm fairly ambivalent towards other teams in general (except them up the road obviously), but I've always really disliked Birmingham. Horrible fans and place to go, and with all the hyperbole from last season, I really hope they don't succeed.

They'll get there eventually, the resourcing is too big not to, but it'd be nice if it took a while. I didn't really see what the fuss was about when we played there. They were bang up for it and ran round like they'd had 10 Red Bulls each but they didn't really offer a great deal else.

They can’t rely on bug matches. That would be a smidgen dangerous.

And let's not forget that things went for us a bit when Sheffield Wednesday stumbled at just the right time.

Which is another way of saying: "A lot of things have to go your way if you are going to get promoted, no matter how good you are."

I think you'll find that the bug matches aren't in the League.

They're in the cup: played over six legs.

I don’t think we are particularly in a position to be criticising anybody else.

We’ve spent £125m+ and are sitting 12th Championship, whilst looking largely very average along the way.

I agree. Never liked Blues as a club, they have a very big proportion of quite vile fans and have often produced quite thuggy teams too will be good if they continue to underwhelm. (See also Wolves - must be a West Mids thing)
