Tend to find Szmodics and Akpom end up just dropping onto the last line a lot alongside Hirst, where as a Chaplin type used to drop just off into the pockets, which made him so difficult to pick up.

Will McKenna have the humility to admit he may have stumbled on something that works and go with it? I sure hope so. I do wonder whether we signed Nunez and decided to really go all out to get Azon here because of the language barrier. I know we were in for Azon before, but the negotiations had gone quiet, hadn't they? If so, it was a master stroke. You can see the pair gravitate towards each other when you see them after games. I think it will tell us a lot about KM if he runs with this now or if he is back to shoehorning Akpom or Szmods in from now on. I think he has the intelligence and humility to give it a go, but if he doesn't, it's going to be extremely frustrating. | | | |

Think it’s been raised a few times that we should try him there. Alongside Azon I think he’s a real threat in that position and looks far more effective at bringing other people into play that Szmodics or Akpom have. I think particularly with the way Taylor played today we can afford to use Nunez further forwards and still have cover on the bench

There are some interesting possibilities if Nunez is moving into the 10 role. One is that, whenever he's back from injury, we could see Akpom competing with Hirst for the 9 role, which I think would probably suit him better anyway.
Another is others maybe getting opportunities in the 10 role - Clarke being the obvious one, and maybe even Egeli once Burns is back to compete with McAteer on the right.

I think some fans fail to understand that players coming on as a sub have more energy. We've seen this many times were people wanted a positive sub performance to start the next game, they do, and it ends up as a nothing performance.

3 big challenges for McKenna by Chris_ITFC 2 Sep 11:05Yeah, the Davis one bugs me most. He was THE system last time. Just as Clarke started to look like he was playing a L10 role (rather than LW) towards the end of last season, it’s Philogene now getting the game time and needing to learn the role / relationship with Leif.
I’m not sure Nunez was signed for it, but I can absolutely see him playing 10 now that Chaplin is gone… not straight away, but there will be games where he does. Maybe it’s even part of the plan in tougher games, to make the midfield more of a 3, rather than the strikeforce more of a 2.
