| Nunez in the 10 15:10 - Oct 25 with 3127 views | itfcsuth | Stumbled across it, but looks the best fit. Picked pockets far better, and has that cute technical quality to create. Tend to find Szmodics and Akpom end up just dropping onto the last line a lot alongside Hirst, where as a Chaplin type used to drop just off into the pockets, which made him so difficult to pick up. Really liked the look of him there. [Post edited 25 Oct 20:47]

Those two appear to be building a very good understanding. I'd like to see Nunez/Azon as 10 and 9 for the first 60 of a match.

Agree. Certainly looks like a natural well balanced pairing with Nunez 10, Azon 9.

Do they both speak same language? A front four of egeli nunez along and philogene is really exciting

Will McKenna have the humility to admit he may have stumbled on something that works and go with it? I sure hope so. Not keen to see Szmodics and especially Akpom play for a little as square pegs in round holes when we have other players who are frankly better footballers able to fit the system much better | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeah, Spanish and Chilean. I do wonder whether we signed Nunez and decided to really go all out to get Azon here because of the language barrier. I know we were in for Azon before, but the negotiations had gone quiet, hadn't they? If so, it was a master stroke. You can see the pair gravitate towards each other when you see them after games. Clearly a bond developing with two players away from home. Good man management there.

I think it will tell us a lot about KM if he runs with this now or if he is back to shoehorning Akpom or Szmods in from now on. I think he has the intelligence and humility to give it a go, but if he doesn't, it's going to be extremely frustrating.

| Nunez in the 10 on 16:28 - Oct 25 with 2055 views | wrightsrightglove | Think it’s been raised a few times that we should try him there. Alongside Azon I think he’s a real threat in that position and looks far more effective at bringing other people into play that Szmodics or Akpom have. I think particularly with the way Taylor played today we can afford to use Nunez further forwards and still have cover on the bench Nunez by wrightsrightglove 19 Oct 10:44Time to try Nunez in a higher CAM role? Szmodics and Akpom haven’t clicked yet and it doesn’t seem like they work in our system particularly effectively, one of the reasons Hirst has looked so ineffective. When Nunez has played, his little through balls seem to get us up the pitch more quickly and have created several chances (particularly for Azon). So maybe time to use him and Azon together from the start with Matusiwa and Cajuste behind him? Limits our options off the bench but think it’s worth a go | | | |
| Nunez in the 10 on 17:46 - Oct 25 with 1895 views | Pique | There are some interesting possibilities if Nunez is moving into the 10 role. One is that, whenever he's back from injury, we could see Akpom competing with Hirst for the 9 role, which I think would probably suit him better anyway. Another is others maybe getting opportunities in the 10 role - Clarke being the obvious one, and maybe even Egeli once Burns is back to compete with McAteer on the right. We may have accidentally stumbled across some intriguing options. [Post edited 25 Oct 17:47]

| Nunez in the 10 on 17:59 - Oct 25 with 1817 views | JammyDodgerrr | He's a proper baller. It is madness that Norwich were willing to sell him, and to us at that, too. Glad we've got him, and he's clearly loving being in Ipswich. | |

| Nunez in the 10 on 18:13 - Oct 25 with 1762 views | BloomBlue | Yes/no, he did today, but is it the famous situation of a sub coming on against tiring legs? Charlton were nothing on Tues in that first half but Nunez struggled to pick any pocket I think some fans fail to understand that players coming on as a sub have more energy. We've seen this many times were people wanted a positive sub performance to start the next game, they do, and it ends up as a nothing performance. I hope he can buck that trend | | | |

Against Charlton, Nunez was sitting deeper as he had defensive responsibilities.

Paragraph 2. 3 big challenges for McKenna by Chris_ITFC 2 Sep 11:05Yeah, the Davis one bugs me most. He was THE system last time. Just as Clarke started to look like he was playing a L10 role (rather than LW) towards the end of last season, it’s Philogene now getting the game time and needing to learn the role / relationship with Leif.
I’m not sure Nunez was signed for it, but I can absolutely see him playing 10 now that Chaplin is gone… not straight away, but there will be games where he does. Maybe it’s even part of the plan in tougher games, to make the midfield more of a 3, rather than the strikeforce more of a 2.

| Nunez in the 10 on 21:38 - Oct 25 with 1167 views | southnorfolkblue | He looks like he can pick a pass in the way Chappers can when he's on form. My only nagging doubt is that it's one thing to do it for the last 20 minutes as a sub, but can he do it for the full game? Has to be worth a go | |

It helped that nunez was happy to pass to egeli I swear the others are to scared incase he does something and put performs them The lack of ball he gets sometimes Is criminal.
