Went down a rabbit hole this afternoon trying to work out what, how and why No Fo Brew company ended up sponsoring Walsall.
Of interest because I worked for a previous sponsor (also a Brewer - but with much more local links than a North American microbrewery) of Walsall 30 odd years ago.
The names of the owners of No Fo sounded British so I wondered whether they were simply expats who had set up in the US and were happy sponsoring their club.
Can't really see a commercial reason for it but that's not to say there isn't one - maybe No Fo will be the next big thing and all on the back of sponsoring Walsall - but I somehow doubt it. |  |

They shared a number, the logic being that retailers of a product sponsoring just one side would be boycotted by fans of the other.
Meant higher sponsorship income than would otherwise be the case.
In the 90s, when working for a national brewer, the Breweries in Scotland had a no green or orange overalls policy. In NI the sales force was even split on sectarian lines, cos a Patrick was unlikely to sell much at the local organge lodge and a William was wasting his time at a cathloic club.

Maybe they figured having their logo reasonably prominently in a couple of episodes of "Mickey Mouse plays Wrexham Soccer ball" was worth the investment?
Or maybe they have bought up some of the local breweries and pub chains and are seeking to establish the brand with a regional identity in the UK?
The Walsall ground is very close to a part of the M6 that frequently snarls up, so maybe a main sponsor gets added value from what is effectively a huge billboard and a captive audience of millions every year. | | | |

Walsall are owned by Americans and the sponsorship is a commercial tie-in with them. |  | | |
