Minute's silence 07:32 - Nov 5 with 3626 viewsZx1988

I find that absolutely bawling "SHUT UP YOU [EXPLETIVE]" at some low level murmuring really helps to add to the ambience.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Yeah, not a fan of that at all

Some subtlety for such a sensitive subject would be nicer than a load of falling poppies raining down an electronics advertising boards

I was in Sir Alf Ramsey Upper, it was a Watford fan shouting "Hornets" who was told to shut up. It happened during the last post.
How hard is it to shut up for one minutes silence?
Have some respect.

It happened against Colchester as well.

Happened before and will happen again as away fans make their way up from the bar area not realizing what is going on. Was a very loud "shut up" though.

There really isn't anything good to say about animated ad boards in my opinion, they never really bothered me much on TV, but in person - they are one of the worst things going

So that's what it was. Only heard the reply in Cobbold C.

That's a fair point. However staff could have warned them going in and the bugle was being played on the PA.

Everyone near me observed the minutes silence, well done to the parents and their kids who showed respect.

I wouldn't let 2-3 thoughtless fools spoil what was impeccable behaviour from the other near 28K people.

I was central upper Britannia stand and could see the bloke who shouted it clear as day. Why people feel the need to shout back. How is shouting the c word for 27000 people to hear during a silence for the fallen an appropriate response?

This happens all the time and those closer to them will usually quieten them. As said above, it’s usually people coming up from the concourse.

Not sure how you can eat a hot dog during a silence though, that’s absolutely ridiculous and someone needs to start a thread about it.

Angrily, imaging myself in the trenches. Which is why I also didn't opt for onions, out of respect.

Yeah, no idea of who or where the shout came from but it was so ott. It was far more disrespectful than whatever noise they were objecting to.

I find I ignore them for the most part but, in a moment that was supposed to be dignified, they were an irritating and unnecessary distraction.

Perhaps having someone on the concourse below advising those about to enter what was happening might help.
Even in SAR Upper you could gear the stewards at the top of the steps telling Town fans entering to "sshh". By then it was too late.

It was the 4th November, I really don't get why there needs to be any kind of marking for Remembrance at football matches. The silence was (almost) impeccable, but I do wonder how many were actually thinking about, and feeling grateful for, the sacrifice of the war generations and the freedoms they fought for. We seem to have forgotten the true meaning of Remembrance. Poppies on football shirts and football flags just seem to dilute the actual occasion, in my opinion.

The good thing about them is that they are (allegedly) more effective so they bring more advertising income in to Town. All part of the modern world of commercial football, along with regular kit changes, umpteen ugly logos etc etc.

I was watching on TownTV and heard it.

There's no need to shout "SHUT UP" that loudly. It reeks of trying to look like a hero and all you're actually doing is making it worse.

In fairness the boards and screens were all turned off for adverts and even team announcements until the poppies.
I think the effect was meant to replicate the falling petals done at places like the Albert Hall.

As for the shouting - regratttable but one or two amongst 27,000 -not bad in our fractured world.

There'll always be someone who doesn't want to participate or thinks it makes them look 'hard' if they don't. Shouting at them only serves to give them the attention they so desperately crave.

Won’t beat the year at Millwall where Town fans politely clapped at the end of the Last Post but seemingly there was supposed to be a period of silence after; cue Millwall fans charging along the side stands to hurl abuse and shout as somehow we were doing it as some defiant stand against the war dead.

Made me laugh for about 15 minutes.

They’ve made me actively hate Fleximize, the blue wave that was going round last night caught me every single time. So incredibly distracting
